Rivers State Government Partner Police On Zero Crime

 Rivers State Government has reiterated it's commitment in the fight against crime and criminality.

The State Governor, Sir Sim Fubara stated this during a press conference organized in Port Harcourt on Wednesday 30th August 2023 by the Rivers State Police Command to flag off the Rivers Zero Crime Campaign .

Governor Fubara who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu appreciated the synergy that has been expressed by stakeholders, noting that if Rivers State was not peaceful and free of crime, development would not be sustained and people would not sleep with their eyes closed.


“We are synergising with the police to ensure that Rivers State is peaceful, loving and calm to everyone who comes here to do business. I want to plead with all of us that this is not a thing we should leave for the police or religious leaders alone. I want to tell us that all of us must play a role, it is a time for everybody to participate.” Governor Fubara quipped.


 
Governor Fubara who commended CP Emeka Polycap Nwonyi and his team for initiating the Rivers Zero Crime Campaign said this initiative was the first of its kind.

According to the Governor, the State Government has always partnered the police and other security agencies to fight crime, noting that under the watch of the immediate past Governor Nyesom Wike, surveillance and tactical centres were set up where surveillance and tactical operations were carried out across the state.

Governor Fubara who commended CP Emeka Nwonyi and his team for initiating the Rivers Zero Crime Campaign said the initiative was the first of its kind.

Earlier,in his address the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Emeka  Nwonyi, commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, for the support he has continued to give to the State Police Command in ensuring that the state remains crime free.

CP Nwonyi stressed that the Rivers Zero Crime Campaign was borne out of the need to build trust, fight crime and promote a positive union between the police and the citizens.

Our Correspondent reports that the conference was also attended by stakeholders in the fight against crimes in the state.

Rivers State Government Targets Reduction In Gender Based Violence
