Death Of SP Bako : Police Arrest Six Suspects, Deploy New DPO

Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Nwonyi Emeka along with his management team and tactical units, conducted an operation on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Odumude Community, Ahaoda East Local Government Area with the objective to recover the deceased DPO's body and conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the community.

Spokesperson ,Rivers State Police Command SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement,said during the operation, six suspects were apprehended within the community. Among the items seized were a locally crafted pistol and various charms. These suspects and the confiscated items are currently under police custody and are undergoing interrogation at the State CID, Port Harcourt.

As a result of these developments, the community has been evacuated by its residents.

According to the statement,a new DPO, SP Zuokumor Richard, has been assigned to the division.

SP Richard is accompanied by half a unit of men from Mopol 48, one-third unit from Mopol 19, 56, and tactical teams.

The new DPO has been tasked to thoroughly search the area, apprehend the culprits responsible for the DPO's demise, recovery of the body, and location of any operational weapons used. This operation will continue while the investigation remains ongoing.

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025.
