Rivers State Police Command Assure Security, Ban Fireworks On Festive Season

The Rivers State Police Command has banned the use of fireworks during the festive season. The ban is in view to ensure safety and security in the State.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji  Disu made this known in a press briefing to Newsmen in the State on the “Security Plan For The Festive Season”. He stated that the ban measure is crucial to prevent accidents, injuries, and disturbance of public peace.

The ban on fireworks remains in force. Retailers are instructed to cease the sale of fireworks, as defaulters will be arrested and prosecuted

According to CP Disu, Rivers State is well-known for its diverse cultural heritage and a hub for economic activities, thus, experiences a significant influx of individuals during the Yuletide season. The increased movement of people and the festive atmosphere present distinct security challenges that necessitate a proactive and comprehensive approach.

To combat the security challenges, CP Disu recounted the measures Rivers State Police command have put in place. These include: deploying additional law enforcement personnel to strategic locations, including major cities, transportation hubs, and popular gathering spots; deploying specialized units dedicated to combating kidnapping and robbery activities.

Others are: collaborate closely with other security agencies to reinforce the security of roads leading in and out of the State to ensure safe travel for all road users. Warn against the use of covered number plates on vehicles; Strongly discourage the use of heavily tinted glass on vehicles.

CP Disu explained that adhering to these guidelines will to lead to the safety and security of all residents and visitors during the season. Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory
