Gov. Fubara pledge To Prioritize Workers Welfare

The Rivers State government has assured workers in the state of swift implementation of the increased workers salary as announced by the Federal Government as soon as the perimeters are made available.


Speaking during the workers day celebration held at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, Sir Siminalayi Fubara said that his government placed more importance on the welfare of workers in the state and urged workers to take advantage of the health insurance scheme that is in operation in public and private health institutions in the state.


On his part, Rivers State chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Mr. Alex Agwanwor applauded the governor for his labour friendly policies and assured him of the cooperation of workers in the state in the implementation of policies geared towards alleviating the suffering faced by the masses.

Mr. Agwanwor also called on the governor to pay more attention to huge agricultural potentials in the state in order to tackle the rising cost of food items which is working against the improved welfare packages introduced by the government.


Meanwhile, Workers in Abua Odual local government area of Rivers State have commended the visionary leadership of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as they celebrate International Workers Day.


The chairman ABOLGA branch of the NLC, Comrade Loveday John said the state government through its workers friendly gesture has awaken the commitment of the workers to their duties.


In his submission, NULGE chairman ABOLGA branch, Comrade Lucky Kpoe called for urgent completion of the health facilities in the area.
They however commended the state government for putting smiles on the faces of workers in the state.


Our correspondent reports that highlights of the celebration were match pass by council staff, teachers, primary health care workers, non-academic staff and road transport workers in the local government area.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive.
