Call To Sack State Council Traditional Rulers Secretary, A Threat To Peace In Rivers State

... Ama-Ngo Youths Assembly tells Rivers State Government

By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu

Rivers State Government has been urged to disregard series of petitions written against the secretary to the State Council of Traditional Rulers, Dr. Matthew Ogwuokwa Jonah demanding his removal from office on allegation of stopping the King of Ngo Town in Andoni local government area from participating in the activities of the Council.

The petitions that emanated from the Ngere Egweoke family of Ngo town have been described by the Ama-Ngo Youths Assembly as  baseless and false.

In an interview, the president  of the Youths Assembly, Mr. Nkakeek Dick, said they have also received an information about some planned protests to the Rivers State Government House, the Office of the Head of Service and the Office of the  Commissioner for Chieftancy and Community Affairs by the said individuals.

Mr. Dick explained that  there is no King in Ngo Town presently as the Okaan-Ama and Paramount Ruler of Ngo Town had since  in January last year joined his ancestors.

He called on the Rivers State Government  and relevant Agencies to disregard the petitions as the sponsors are impostors and enemies of Ngo Town who lost the litigation for the kingship of Ngo Town at the Supreme Court, yet, do not want the community to have peace.

The youth president further called on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu and others security agencies to arrest and prosecute the sponsors of such petitions and planned protest for conspiring to cause a breach of  peace in Ngo Town.

Mr. Dick added that if Dr. Matthew Ogwuokwa had committed any serious misconduct in the discharge of his duties, he should be sanctioned according to the Public Service Rules and not paddling malicious allegations and falsehood by enemies of Ngo Town.
