One Day Old Baby Found Dead In Manhole In Port Harcourt

A day old dead male child was discovered today Tuesday,23rd July,2024 in a manhole at Ekwe Street Ikwerre road, Mile 3 Diobu, Port Harcourt, Rivers State by members of Diobu vigilante group.

Speaking with Newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu Orowurokwo attached to Diobu vigilante, Mr.Godstime Ihunwo, explained that about 5 am, today, his  team were on patrol and getting to Ikwerre road by Ekwe street Mile 3, they discovered that  a new born baby was dumped into a Man hole.

            Viewers Discretion is advised 

"We discovered that the baby was dead.It was a male child.I quickly rushed down to Nkpolu Police Division to  make an  entry, I also contacted,Prince Wiro who is a human rights activist". He said 

In the meantime,the National Coordinator, Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign Mr. Prince Wiro has condemned the action of the unidentified mother describing it as the height of wickedness.

Mr. Wiro said it is sad that before the vigilante group discovered the infant male he was already dead.

"The action of the  mother of the child is a crime that is punishable under the Nigeria law. He stated.

The Human rights advocate urged residents who may have useful information about the identity of the child's mother to report to the Police for necessary action.
