Commissioner For Social Welfare Vows To Deliver On Governor Fubara's Mandate .............Promises better welfare for staff of the Ministry

Rivers State Commissioner for Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Honourable Arugu Ilamuskami has charged staff of the Ministry to work assiduously towards the attainment of the mandate and vision of Governor Siminalayi Fubara led administration in the State.

Honourable IIamuskami who stated this during a brief reception held in his honour in his office in Port Harcourt, said Governor Fubara is committed to redefine good governance and purposeful leadership in the State, stressing that the Ministry is saddled with the responsibility of lifting vulnerable citizens from poverty to affordability.

In his words "let us change the state of the poor so that people will start seeing you in a better light and appreciate you for the hard work you have done".

On staff welfare, the Odual born politician urged them to bring their wealth of experience to bear in realizing the primary mandate of the Ministry as well as to enable him  succeed on his new assignment, assuring that their welfare will be given priority attention in his leadership.

"I have been in politics for over 24 years and I have never struggle for power. There will be zero tolerance for power tussle under my leadership in the ministry, he added''.

IIamuskami further commended the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mrs. Justina Jumbo for demonstrating good leadership in the Ministry which has translated into proper organization and discipline amongst staff while urging staff to remain committed in their various assignment.

Earlier in her remark, the Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Dr. Mrs. Justina Jumbo who was full of excitement, expressed optimism that the assumption of Honourable Arugu IIamuskami as Commissioner of the Ministry will strengthen the work so far done in the Ministry.

She equally thanked the Governor for his efforts in ensuring that issues regarding disadvantaged persons in the State are accorded adequate attention in his administration.

The Rivers State Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation established in 2007 is entrusted with the implementation of programs and the provision of social, rehabilitative services to improve the physical, social, emotional and economic well-being of the disadvantage groups in the State.

Recalled that Arugu Ilamuskami has worked in the three tiers of government and is a one time Special Adviser and Council Chairman in his LGA.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025.
