Troops of 6 Division, Nigerian Army have averted what would have been a major inferno at Rumuokwuta Roundabout in Port Harcourt after a premium motor spirit, PMS laden trunk fell.
In a swift response, the Acting Commanding Officer, 760 Transport Battalion, of Nigeria Army Major Al-mustapha Adams mobilised and led the 6 Division Fire fighters to the scene to prevent any fire outbreak.
The operation which was conducted with sister agencies ensured all safety and security protocols were strictly observed, while the area was cordoned off and all necessary preventive drills were carried out.
According to the Nigerian Army, no life or property was lost as the situation was brought under control.
Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam commended the troops for their efforts.
He assured the people of Rivers State and its environs of the division's determination to continue to carry out people-centred operations.
The fire prevention response by the 6 Division Fire Service was done in fulfillment of the Nigerian Army's commitment to effective Civil-Military Relations and the Division's efforts in supporting host communities.
