Human Rights Day: Any Country Thriving In Social, Environmental, Human Rights Injustice Is Doomed - CEBARAC

The Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign (CEBARAC), says any country thriving in  Social, Environmental, Human rights injustice is doomed.

National Coordinator of the group, Prince Wiro, in a goodwill message to commemorate the 2024 edition of the World Human Rights Day with the theme "Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now," said many Nigerians in the region whose environment have been degraded by multinationals in the course of oil exploration are yet to get justice.

Mr Wiro asserted  that there will be no future for a country where citizens are denied their social rights such as quality education,standard  health care system, basic and social amenities due to corrupt practices by some public office holders.

The National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights however,stated that for Nigeria to have a future, Social, Environmental and Human rights must be promoted by the government and citizens, adding that everybody must be equal before the law irrespective of status, religion, tribe.

Mr Wiro opined that it is the right of every citizen in the country  to demand transparency and  accountability from all public office holder at all levels to secure the future for the country.

World Human Rights Day is celebrated every December 10 annually.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
