About one hundred and nineteen police officers of the Rivers State Police command have been promoted to various ranks.
Speaking to Newsmen at the officers mess in Port Harcourt after the decorations of the officers, Rivers State commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju charged the newly promoted officers to live up to expectations in their discharge of duties.
CP Adepoju told the officers that every position comes with high expectations, hence the need to brace up.
In his words, "we are decorating these Officers who are promoted because of their hard work and dedication".
He thanked the Police Service Commission for the timely release of these promotions after recommendations by the Inspector-General of Police.
His thanks further goes to the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for giving him the privilege to decorate the promotees.
The police boss appealed to the officers to respect human rights as he will not tolerate any human rights abuses from any officer.
He called on the newly promoted officers to monitor officers under them to ensure they carry out their responsibility professionally.
In his vote of thanks, CSP Orok Edet one of the newly promoted Senior Officers who spoke on behalf of other officers, thanked the Almighty God for making their promotions possible.
He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph. D, NPM for finding them worthy of the promotion and subsequent recommendations to the PSC.
He further thanked the Police Service Commission for the timely release of the promotions and also thanked the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, psc, mnips and his Management team for decorating them.
CSP Edet noted that they will uphold the tenets of the Nigeria Police Force.
The ceremony was attended by people from all walks of life including the Press.
Our Correspondent report that forty superintendent of police were promoted to chief superintendent of police, twenty one officers were promoted from Deputy superintendent of police to Superintendent of police, while fifty eight officers were promoted from Assistant superintendent of police to Deputy superintendent of police.
