Police In Search Of OSPAC Members Involved In Child Trafficking In Rivers Community

The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended two suspects involved in child trafficking at Chokocho in Etche Local Government Area.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko, on January 24, 2025, operatives of the Command arrested two suspects, Ugochukwu Onyebuchi  and Ogechi Nmezi who allegedly conspired to defraud Juliet Blossom  and Esther Michael under the pretence of facilitating baby adoptions.

According to the statement, the suspects had lured one Gift Chimanu, the mother of a two-month-old baby girl, Evidence Olomachukwu Chimanu, and Hope Onyebuchi, the mother of a one-year-old baby boy, Chukwuemeka Kingsley, into their scheme.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects acted in collaboration with members of a local vigilante group, OSPAC, to perpetrate the crime.

SP Iringe-Koko noted that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other syndicate members, including the implicated OSPAC members.

The victims have been rescued and reunited with their families.

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages.
