Joint Security team has foiled an attempt by vandals, who were about to vandalize a pipeline at Aluu and Rumukpe in Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government Areas of Rivers State.
Briefing Newsmen at the State Police Command headquarters in Port Harcourt, Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju who spoke on behalf of the team, said since the declaration of State of Emergency in the State,all the security agencies have been working as a team to ensure safety of lives and property.
''The safety of our environment is paramount to foster business growth.
We remain resolute in maintaining law and order.
"We are fully prepared to carryout our responsibility with diligence.We have improved deployment of security operatives to curtail Movement of criminals and illicit materials.
"A targeted enforcement will commence to impound unregistered number plate,because such issue can jeopardize security.
CP Adepoju revealed that the Joint Security Team, thwarted the attempt by miscreants to vandalize the pipelines which led to the death of the hoodlums at Aluu and Rumukpe.
The Rivers Police Chief disclosed that along Omoku road in ONELGA, eight suspects were arrested, while six victims were rescued.
He said two pump action guns,two locally made pistols, four local single barrel guns, assorted ammunition and two motorcycles were recovered from the hoodlums
CP Adepoju also explained that another case of a suspect targeting pipeline was voided in ONELGA on the 19th of March,as the suspect was arrested, four dynamites, communication equipment were recovered.
The CP while adding that the Joint security team in the period under review destroyed over thirty illegal refining sites, impounded ten thousand litres of AGO, encouraged the public to call the Police on Control numbers 08032003514,0809888134
