Fatal Accident Claim Lives In Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of four persons who were knocked down by a vehicle, on Monday, 12th of May, 2025, along G.U. Ake Road, Eliozu Port Harcourt.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko says One Benson Michael, 36 year old, who was the driver of the vehicle lost control and collided with six pedestrians.

Four of the pedestrians were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others sustained injuries and were rushed to Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, RSUTH for medical attention.

According to the statement, the driver of the vehicle has been arrested, while the corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Mortuary.

The Command Spokesperson noted that the case will be transferred to the State Traffic Department for further investigation.

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages.
