Indorama Celebrates Journalists In Rivers State, Honours Retired Head Of Corporate Communications

As part of Social responsibility and to enhance their relationship with the media, Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Company Limited (IEPCL) organized a one day special event called Happy Hour on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

The event which was aimed at celebrating journalists for their work, also marked the retirement celebration of Dr. Jossy Nkwocha, who retired as Head of corporate communication Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Company Limited (IEPCL).

In his address during the event, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Munish Mundra, represented by the Chief Technical Officer of the company, Mr Deepu Sivadas, acknowledged the feat that the company has achieved over the years while expressing appreciation to the media for supporting the company, attributed the good relationship between the company and the media to the wonderful goodwill of Nkwocha.

He praised Nkwocha for manning the corporate communication department very effectively, stressing that the public relations guru has left very big shoes for his successor to fill.

On his part, the head of Corporate Communication Department, Indorama Eleme Petrochemical Company Limited (IEPCL), Mr. Jossy Nkwocha expressed appreciation to all journalists in Rivers State for supporting him to have a fulfilling and successful working life in the company for 18 years.

He recalled that on taking up the appointment at the company after departing from the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) 18 years ago, he had visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat and that of the Correspondents’ Chapel in Port Harcourt, to solicit for media support to enable him succeed in his new assignment which feat has benefited both the company and journalists in Rivers State.

Dr. Nkwocha pleaded with the journalists to extend the same goodwill and support to Mr. Justice Bibiye, who will assume headship of the corporate communication department in his stead.

In his goodwill message during the Happy Hour event, the Chairman of National Union of Journalists, NUJ Rivers State Council, Comrade Paul Bazia-Nsaneh commended the company for sustaining its growth and successes over the years.

While  thanking Dr. Jossy Nkwocha for facilitating the relationship that has grown to a worthy partnership, the Rivers State Council NUJ Chairman revealed that Indorama has been a pillar of support to the journalism profession in the State, praying that the partnership will be a continuum.

Earlier in his brief remarks, the incoming Head of the Corporate Communication Department, Mr. Justice Bibiye described the event as a reunion with journalists in the State having practised in the State as a staff of the African Independent Television, (AIT) for 10 years before proceeding on transfer to cover the State House, Abuja.


Journalists in Rivers were also taken on a facility tour of the company during the event.

Missing Person: Rivers State Police Command declares Miss Joy Woke Wiro

A  statement by the Spokesperson for the Rivers state Police command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko disclosed that she is 17 year old,a native of Ibaa in Emohua Local Government Area of the State,fair in complexion and about 5ft tall, speaks English and Ikwerre languages. SP Koko said the missing girl left home on Monday, September 8th,2025. All efforts made to trace her whereabout proved abortive. Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026.
