Written by Nduka Anyanwu

Wednesday 30th July, in Abuja marked a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, as the National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa had the distinct honor of participating in a landmark event alongside colleagues—the National Chairmen of all political parties across the nation.

The occasion was the official unveiling and public presentation of the “Political Party Performance Index (PPPI) Report”, coupled with the launch of the “Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Constitution”. Organized by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) in partnership with IPAC, this event signifies a new era of transparency, accountability, and progressive political engagement in Nigeria.

This groundbreaking initiative sets a new benchmark for evaluating the performance of political parties across the country. By providing a comprehensive framework for assessment, the PPPI Report aims to catalyze positive change within the political landscape—enhancing public trust, promoting democratic values, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among political actors.

The establishment of the IPAC Constitution further underscores the commitment to institutionalizing dialogue, cooperation, and good governance among Nigeria’s diverse political entities.

The significance of this event cannot be overstated. It embodies a collective desire among stakeholders to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy through structured evaluation and improved inter-party relations.

As political parties, we are called upon to uphold integrity, champion transparency, and serve the interests of our citizens with renewed vigor.

The PPPI and IPAC Constitution serve as vital tools to guide us in this mission, ensuring that political pursuits are aligned with the principles of good governance and societal development the APGA Chairman opines.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) remain deeply committed to these ideals. As a party rooted in a strong ideological foundation and guided by the rule of law, Barrister Sly emphasized that APGA fully embraces this initiative as its mission is to serve the Nigerian people with integrity, vision, and dedication which aligns seamlessly with the goals of the PPPI and IPAC.

He believes that by working collectively and transparently, Nigeria can realize its full democratic potential and achieve sustainable development.

In conclusion, the event in Abuja marks a milestone in Nigeria’s democratic evolution. It is a testament to the unwavering commitment of political stakeholders, civil society, and international partners to build a more transparent, accountable, and inclusive political system.

"As we look to the future, let us leverage these tools and platforms to foster a vibrant democracy that truly reflects the will of the Nigerian people", the APGA Chieftain concluded.
