Fire Destroys Property Worth Millions Of Naira In Port Harcourt

Residents of 57 Azikiwe street Mile 2 Diobu area in Port Harcourt are counting their losses, following a fire incident that destroyed property worth millions of naira in the early hours of today.

 

Our correspondent who visited the area reports that the fire started at about 3am while many tenants were asleep and shop owners have left.

 

A shop owner affected by the inferno, Mr. Wisdom Jack who deals on Ice block machines said he lost over ten million naira in the incident.

 


" Both the Ice block machines.Even the ones companies gave me to mould were all affected.I dont have anybody to run to" Mr Jack said.

 

Another Shop owner, identified as Mr. Chigozie who was equally affected by the incident recounted his losses.

 



 "I have two button hole machines,two weaving machines and three industrial machines,cash of over one million i kept in my shop too,I lost all.But I know my God will make a way for me" he said.


Our correspondent also reports that the fire spread to a liquor warehouse, but was put off by personnel of the Rivers State Fire Service who were deployed to the area.

 


Policemen were on ground to prevent hoodlums from carting away property that some tenants were able to bring out from their apartment.

 

As at time of filing the report, the cause of the inferno could not be ascertained.

Pastor Dehumanizing Children In Rivers State Cools Off In Police Net

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, Preliminary investigations revealed that Pastor Joseph allegedly organized a 3-day program for children in his Church, purportedly for "spiritual cleaning," claiming to have been inspired by the Holy Spirit.
