PCRC Partners UniPort On Fight Against Drug Abuse

The Police Community Relations Committee,PCRC Rivers Command and the University of Port Harcourt,UniPort; has to partner in the War Against Drug Abuse. 

This was the highpoint of discussions when PCRC paid a courtesy visit on the Vice Chancellor of UniPort,Professor Owunari Georgewill in his office.

In his address,the Chairman of PCRC in Rivers State, Mr. Voke Emore lauded the Vice Chancellor and his management team for the good work  that have made the institution maintained her pride and place among top ranking University in Africa.

Mr. Emore stated that PCRC in Rivers State has built partnership with relevant Government agencies and one of such is the partnership with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,NDLEA which has helped the group  take the War Against Drug Abuse to a few  Universities in the past. 


"We understand that there is a strong correlation between intake of illicit drugs and criminal behaviour.It Is on this premise we decided to extend the campaign against drug abuse to Uniport''. 

"We look forward to a fruitful relationship as we work together in the years ahead" Mr Emore said. 

In his response,the Vice Chancellor of UniPort Professor Owunari Georgewill stated that the University population is mainly young people and the students population is over forty thousand.

"The University is a place that we have the good,bad and ugly. Strategic partnership like this will help us alot.You have alot to campaign.We welcome it. We will partner with you.Support you, so you can carry out your duties very effectively.

"I believe that what you are doing is the best.When you come, counsel them,make them to know dangers of all these things,you are saving them from criminal and health consequences.

"This University will do all we can to support you .We will communicate to the students affairs department and students executives,so that they can work hand in hand with you" Professor Georgewill said. 

The Vice Chancellor of the University, urged PCRC to make the campaign a continuous exercise which will help to minimize intake of illicit drugs if not totally eradicated from the institution.


Highlight of the visit was presentation of partnership certificate on fight against drug abuse,cultism and other vices by PCRC to the University which was received by the Vice Chancellor.

Bille People Appeal To Governor Fubara To Prevail On Alhaji Asari Dokubo To Stop Evasion Of Territory
