On Thursday, September 18th, APGA National Chairman, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, as a panelist in the first session of the Athena Centre’s virtual workshop.

In his capacity as a panelist during the first session of the Athena Centre’s virtual workshop titled **"Shaping the Future of Electoral Technology for Credible Election Outcomes in Nigeria: The Role of Political Parties,"** APGA National Chairman Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa shared insightful perspectives on Nigeria’s electoral landscape and the vital role political parties must play in enhancing electoral credibility.


Ezeokenwa emphasized that “the integrity of elections is foundational to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria,” noting that “technological innovation in electoral processes offers a promising pathway to reduce electoral malpractices and increase transparency.” 

He pointed out that “political parties have a critical responsibility to adopt and advocate for credible electoral technologies, ensuring that they serve the interests of the Nigerian people.”

He further articulated that “for Nigeria to realize credible election outcomes, there must be a collaborative effort among all stakeholders, including political parties, electoral bodies, civil society, and technology providers.”

 Ezeokenwa urged political parties to “embrace transparency and accountability in their engagement with electoral reforms, recognizing that credible elections are the bedrock of democratic legitimacy.”

In conclusion, he called for continuous dialogue and innovation, stating that “only through sustained commitment and strategic partnerships can Nigeria overcome the challenges facing its electoral system and foster genuine democratic progress.” 

His remarks underscored the importance of leveraging technology not just as a tool, but as a catalyst for strengthening Nigeria’s democracy and ensuring that electoral outcomes truly reflect the will of the people.

 He emphasized the collective responsibility of Nigerians to shape the future of electoral integrity.


 “Together, let us shape the future of credible elections in Nigeria,” Ezeokenwa urged, reaffirming his commitment to democratic reforms and continuous engagement in Nigeria’s political development.

Ghost Lawyer Defends Client in Port Harcourt Court

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt was thrown into confusion today Thursday, the 12th of March, 2026 when it noticed that a lawyer who had died since last year, 2025 December appeared before it on Tuesday the 10th of February, 2026 to conduct his matter. When the matter was called for hearing, and the lawyer was not present, the court on inquiry was informed by the litigant that his lawyer died since last year December 2025. The court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Kingsley Briggs became confused and had to search through his record book, where he confirmed the lawyer’s presence during proceeding on Tuesday the 10th day of February, 2026. The Senior Magistrate informed the litigant on how the court had wanted to issue a bench warrant against him if not for the intervention of his lawyer who pleaded that he the litigant was sick and needed medical attention.
