Written By Nduka Anyanwu

As Nigeria navigates a period marked by political uncertainty, social tension, and mounting challenges, leaders across the nation are called to reflect on unity, peace, and the shared destiny of our diverse peoples.

Among them, Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has sent a poignant message to Muslim faithful in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of faith, patience, and national cohesion during this RAMADAN being a month of fasting, communal prayer, reflection, and community.

In a season that signifies renewal, forgiveness, and hope, Ezeokenwa’s message resonates deeply amid the prevailing political turbulence.

The nation is grappling with issues ranging from electoral disputes to security concerns, creating an atmosphere of palpable tension and uncertainty. Yet, in the midst of these challenges, the essence of Eid—peace, unity, and compassion—remains a guiding light.
A Call for Unity Amidst Political Tensions.

Ezeokenwa acknowledged the complexity of Nigeria’s current political landscape, where divisions threaten to undermine the fabric of national unity. He urged Muslim faithful to see Eid not just as a festival of celebration, but as a reminder of the virtues that can heal wounds and bridge divides: patience, forgiveness, and brotherhood. “In these trying times,” he said, “let us remember that true strength lies in unity. Our faith teaches us to seek peace, to forgive, and to work together for a better Nigeria.”

A Heartfelt Eid-el-Fitr Message
In his message, the APGA leader expressed heartfelt wishes to Muslim faithful across Nigeria, extending prayers for peace, health, and prosperity.

“As you start the RAMADAN, I beseech you to pray for our nation—pray for peace, stability, and the wisdom of our leaders to steer Nigeria onto a path of justice and development,” he stated. “Let the spirit of Eid inspire us to look beyond our differences and embrace one another as brothers and sisters, united in the pursuit of a brighter future.”

A Call for Collective Responsibility
Ezeokenwa emphasized that the peace Nigeria seeks is not solely the responsibility of politicians or security forces but a collective effort of every citizen. He urged faith-based groups, community leaders, and individuals to foster dialogue, promote understanding, and resist divisive tendencies that threaten the unity of the nation.

Hope Beyond the Horizon
While acknowledging the current tense atmosphere, the APGA Chairman expressed optimism that Nigeria’s resilience, rooted in its rich diversity and faith in divine providence, can overcome the present challenges. “Eid teaches us that after hardship comes ease.

Let us hold onto hope, work tirelessly for justice, and believe in our collective capacity to build a Nigeria where peace and prosperity reign.”

In Conclusion
As Nigeria continues to face political and social upheavals, the words of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa serve as a timely reminder that faith, patience, and unity are vital in navigating these turbulent waters. This RAMADAN being a celebration of renewal and forgiveness, offers Nigerians an opportunity to reflect, reconcile, and renew their commitment to a peaceful and united nation.

May this RAMADAN bring blessings, peace, and renewed hope to all Muslims and indeed to every Nigerian.

Ramadan Mubarak! Nigeria.
