The immediate-past Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area, Dame Alabota Anengi Barasua Claude-Wilcox, DSSRS, JP, has been recognised and honoured as the Integrity Woman of the Year 2026 by the National Secretariat of the Nigerian Association of Christian Journalists (NACJ) at its Integrity and Patriots Award Ceremony held in Port Harcourt over the weekend.
In the letter of nomination signed by the National President, Dr Charles Tola Okhai, NACJ anchored their conferment on her evident transformational efforts during her term as Council Chairman, adding that she affected lives, raised the bar in leadership and exemplified unwavering commitment to integrity justifying their move to highlight her as a public servant worthy of emulation.
Remarking after the conferment, Alabota Claude-Wilcox expressed surprise on how she was spotted from such distance and nominated for the honour in appreciation of her modest leadership effort despite being out of office.
She commended the sincerity of the organisers, urging them to keep on practicing their profession in consonance with Christian values for the good of Nigeria, while dedicating the award to God for the opportunity to serve and impact society.
Some notable award recipients in attendance were; the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Professor Ngozi Nma Odu,DSSRS, the Executive Secretary of RIVCHIPP; Dr Vetty Agala, and the first Female Professor of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment in Africa, Professor Cynthia Amaka Obiora amongst others.
