The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), All Progressives Grand Alliance, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency, institutional accountability, and democratic best practices following his participation in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) high-level training on the Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2026, alongside the Political Party Finance Reporting and Audit System (PFRAS) held in Lagos.
The strategic engagement, organized by Independent National Electoral Commission with the support of The Kukah Centre, Westminster Foundation for Democracy, and the European Union, brought together leaders and representatives of political parties across Nigeria to deepen understanding of evolving regulatory frameworks guiding political party administration and financial accountability.
Speaking during the workshop, the APGA National Chairman emphasized that capacity building and alignment with regulatory frameworks remain indispensable to strengthening democratic governance and institutional credibility in Nigeria.
According to him, political parties occupy a central position in the democratic process and must therefore demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, compliance, and responsible leadership.
He noted that political parties are not merely vehicles for electoral participation, but foundational democratic institutions whose operations directly influence public trust in governance and the electoral system.
Consequently, party leadership must uphold transparency, institutional discipline, and accurate financial reporting as non-negotiable obligations necessary for sustaining democracy and strengthening public confidence.
The Chairman further stressed that accountability and regulatory compliance must remain at the heart of credible political leadership, particularly in an era where citizens increasingly demand openness, ethical conduct, and responsible management of party affairs.
He stated that strengthening internal governance mechanisms within political parties would contribute significantly to national democratic stability and institutional development.
He also commended INEC and its development partners for convening what he described as a timely and strategic engagement aimed at promoting compliance, enhancing institutional knowledge, and fostering greater accountability among political parties in Nigeria.
Reaffirming APGA’s dedication to democratic best practices, the Chairman stated that the party remains committed to responsible administration, adherence to electoral regulations, and constructive participation in initiatives that advance Nigeria’s democratic growth and political development.
