The Rivers State Police command has removed the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Oyigbo police station.
Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Blessing Agabe in a statement,said the removal came in response to an alleged misconduct involving the DPO.
According to the statement, in line with the Command’s commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism, the officer concerned was removed from his position pending the outcome of a thorough and impartial investigation of the matter.
The police image maker, noted that the attention of the Command was drawn to a publication circulating on various online platforms alleging misconduct involving the DPO.
The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, expressed dismay over the incident and reiterated that the Command will not tolerate any form of misconduct, abuse of office or actions capable of undermining public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The Command appreciated the vigilance of members of the public and encourages citizens to continue reporting incidents of misconduct through appropriate channels.
