NAWOJ Condemn Alleged Torture Of Etche Assembly Leader

  The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ,NAWOJ; Rivers State Chapter, has condemned the brutal attack unleashed on the Etche Legislative Leader, Mrs Cynthia Nwala, at the Etche Local Government Council secretariat, .    Chairperson of the Association , Mrs Susan Serekara-Nwikhana  in an interview with our correspondent  described the attack as barbaric and an  unpardonable assault on womanhood.    The NAWOJ chairperson said the Association would not condone any act capable of demeaning womenfolk in the society.    Mrs Serekara-Nwikhana called on  civil society organisations, the International Federation of Women Lawyers ,FIDA; and the Rivers State Police Command to rise up to the occasion and ensure that the Etche Local Government Council Chairman, Mr. Obinna Anyanwu and his Chief Security Adviser, Prince Onyeche, face the full wrath of the law.

Etche Council Boss Deny Involvement In Molestation Of House Leader

  Chairman Etche  Local Government Area Mr Obinna Anyanwu has denied involvement in the alleged tortured and vandalization of Etche Assembly Leader Mrs Cynthia Nwala. Mr Anyanwu in an interview with our Correspondent noted that after the screening of supervisory councilors by the House leader she attempted to escape with the Assembly mace. "She wanted to cart away with the mace which is not her duty and have friction with her follow colleagues,they lock the council gate , the CSO only come to separate the fight, how can she accused me and the CSO of conspiracy.''

Etche Politicians Harass Female House Leader

  The leader of Etche legislative Assembly Mrs Cynthia Nwala has accused the council chairman Mr Obinna Anyanwu of allegedly conspiring with the chief security officer ,cso; of the council Mr Prince Onyeche who tortured and stripped her  naked also vandalized her car . Mrs Nwala told our correspondent that after the screening of the supervisory councilors and SAs , she decided to go with the mace of the Assembly as agreed by all councilors. She  said the deputy leader of the Assembly with some councilors and the chairman were said to be planning her removal from office, noting the council is under renovation and deem it necessary to secure the mace as the leader of the Assembly.            According to Mrs Nwala the alleged plan to remove her as the house leader is due to the fact that she is not an indigene of Etche local government area even though she is a native by marriage. Education Commissioner Bags NAWOJ's Icon of Education Award

 In recognition of the laudable achievements in the Education Sector, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ)in Rivers State has given the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku an Icon of Education Award. The Association gave the award during the investiture of the Education Boss as the Patron of NAWOJ. Presenting the award, the  Chairperson of NAWOJ, Rivers state chapter Comrade Susan Serekara-Nwikhana   noted that Prof. Ebeku is indeed a lecturer and a mentor  whom NAWOJ has been privileged to tap from his wealth of knowledge. Rivers State Government To Assist Churches To Propagate Gospel Of Christ

Bus Driver, Conductor Causes Death Of Passenger In Mile 3 PortHarcourt

  One Mr Tedus Ohawen from Imo state was  allegedly murdered today at Wobo street following an argument with a bus driver and conductor. Chief Security Officer of Diobu vigilante Mile 3 unit Godstime Ihunwo told our Correspondent that the passenger Mr Ohawen was arguing with the  conductor when he was pushed out of the vehicle and the driver hit him with the vehicle and they both ran away but were later apprehended at mile 1 and detained at mile 3 Police station. Unlicensed Water Producers Risk Two Year Jail Term, N100,000 Fine .....RSG

  By Martha Igbiks Rivers State Government  says water service providers who are not licensed by the State's Water Regulatory Commission are liable to two years in imprisonment or a fine of 100,000 upon conviction. In addition, defaulters will pay 5,000 naira daily until the person obtains the licence. The State's Commissioner for Water Resources and Rural Development, Dr Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja who made this known in a meeting between the Water Regulatory Commission and the Water Associations in the State, directed the Commission to strictly enforce the law on issuance of licenses to  water service producers operating in the State. Citing Section 140 of the Water Sector Development Law, 2012, the Commissioner  said no person shall operate as a service provider unless such a person acquires a license from the Commission.
