Most wanted East West Road Kidnapper Aka Lucifer gun down by Operation sting

The Rivers state police command says the most wanted notorious kidnapper from Egamini Rundele, in Emohua Local Government Area, Ekweme Brown Ike ,aka Lucifer has been killed by Men of the Operation Sting, in an Operation led by the Commander, Acp Shem Evans. Ekweme Ike is said to be responsible for all the kidnappings and hijack of Commercial Buses on the Ndele axis of the East/West Road. The Police public Relations Officer Mr. Nnamdi Omoni in a press statement says the entire Rundele Community has been thrown into a wild jubilation following the death of the notorious criminal Ekweme Ike. Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest his Confederates in crime.

Rivers State government acquire Shell 45% interest in OML 11

Rivers State Government has fully acquired Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria, SPDC Forty-Five percent interest in Oil Mining Lease, OML 11 situated in Ejama Ebubu community in Eleme Local Government Area and the adjoining Ogoni and other communities of the State. Governor Nyesom Wike who stated this during a Live State Broadcast at Government House, Port Harcourt, explained that the decision for the acquisition of OML 11, was based on a court judgement, following a major oil spill from SPDC Oil Pipeline at Ejama Community, affecting agricultural land and fishing swamps. While noting the impact of environmental degradation resulting from oil related operations suffered by the state, Governor further explained that the resolve by the State Government to purchase OML 11 was to boost the revenue base of the State Government and transformed the State and its peoples for the better. Stop harassing us commercial drivers warn Rivers State taskforce

Commercial drivers plying Rumuokoro-Igwuruta road have protested their alleged continued harassment by members of the taskforce against street trading. The drivers who came out in their numbers said they have exhausted all avenues for dialogue and called on concerned authorities to urgently provide them with loading points. State chairman of the Drivers Welfare Association, Comrade Lekia Isaac said all efforts to get a loading point for the drivers did not yield any result, hence their decision to carry out a one day warning strike. Awareness on the effect of climate change has taken a centre stage to mark global Day for climate change

As part of activities to mark the Global day for Climate Change, an environmental Organization, 350.org has organized a walk to create awareness on the effect of climate change. Representative of 350.org and an ambassador, Eco network, Mr. Smith Nwokocha during the walk, reemphasized the need for individuals to ensure that they stay away from things that contribute to climate pollution, especially the soot. PortHarcourt serial killer from Kalabari paraded

Rivers State Police Command has paraded the prime suspect involved in the serial killings of women in hotels in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital. Briefing newsmen in Port Harcourt, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mustapha Dandaura said the 39-year old suspect, Gracious David West who hails from Buguma Asari Toru Local Government Area has confessed to have killed five girls in different hotels in Port Harcourt. Suspected serial killer of young females, Gracious David West was arrested on Thursday along East West road in a commercial vehicle heading to Uyo Akwa Ibom State. The Commissioner of police Mr. Mustapha Dandaura ,recounted the confessional statement made by the suspect during interrogation. An eighty five year old resident of Rivers State School-to-Land Housing Estate in Iriebe town, Madam Daba Miller has called on the State Government and other relevant Authorities to urgently come to their aid and save the estate inhabitants who have been sacked by flood. Madam Daba said the estate does not have gut ters which have contributed to the severity of the flood. While agreeing with other occupants that buildings in the Estate is far from what was on the master plan, Madam Miller said the situation has posed health hazard as broken septic slaps flood the estate with feaces and other infectious debris. Madam Miller said if help does not come urgently, more danger may occur as the situation has thrown them into untold hardship.

Women organizations demand unbiased investigation into serial killing of ladies in Rivers State

Seventy seven women organizations in Rivers State have demanded thorough unbiased investigation into the recent serial killing of ladies in hotels in the state The women organizations in the state took to the street of Port Harcourt to protest what they described as one death too many. Submitting a communique jointly signed by 77 women groups in the state , President Rotary club of port Harcourt south district Rita-Marley Idonor appealed to the government to wake up to its responsibilities of protecting lives and property of citizens. Still on the recent serial killings in hotels in Rivers State, the Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested one murder suspect who has made useful confession that will further aid investigations. The Commissioner of Police Mustapha Dandaura in a press briefing in Port Harcourt told journalists that measures has been put in place to tackle the menace and bring culprits to book. CP Dandaura confirmed that eight persons have so far been murdered in various hotels in state, stressing that the police will not rest until the evil act becomes a thing of the past. The Rivers State Commissioner of Police also observed that some hotels management are yet to comply with the directive given by the command which enjoined all hotels operating in the state to join their association and subscribe to all security guidelines given by the command. Operation Sting gun down two notorious armed robbers in Rivers community

Rivers State Police Command said operatives of the Operation sting, killed two notorious armed Robbers last night at Rumuagholu community in Obio Akpor Local Government, while acting on credible information tailed a Black Mazda car with Reg.no KNM 504 Rivers with four armed robbers on board who were on their way for an operation.
