Police Confirm Explosion In Rivers,Ask Residents To Go About Their Lawful Duties

 The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed an explosion at the Mile 3 Market  in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of the State  The Police in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer Mr Nnamdi Omoni noted that a locally fabricated Dynamite, exploded when one Mrs Ifemia Aloke,  popularly  known as  mama Joy opened her fish shop, inflicting injuries on her son and one other young lady who are currently receiving medical attention. No life was lost in the incident.  The police image maker said the Explosive Ordinance Disposal,EOD; was immediately despatched to the scene to sweep and render the entire Market safe while normal trading activities have resumed .  In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Eboka Friday has ordered a full scale Investigation into the incident with a view to ascertaining the cause of the explosion and bringing the perpetrators to justice.  He reassured the people  that the state is calm and urged everyone to go about  their lawful acti

Explosion Rocks Mile 3 Park In Rivers , Traders Scamper For Safety

  There was pandemonium this morning at Mile 3 park in Diobu PortHarcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State  following an explosion of a substance suspectedly to be dynamite. Eyewitnesses who did not want there names in print disclosed that the incident took place at about 6:20am when traders were bringing in their goods in the park . We gathered that one person was injured on the leg while few others sustained slight injuries as a result of stampede. Many traders quickly parked their goods and left the park after the explosion. Police Parades Vigilante Member For Alleged Murder Of His Boss, A USA Based Business Man

  A Member Of Abia State Vigilante group has been paraded by the Rivers State police Command for Allegedly Killing his boss a USA Based Business Man The suspect Mr Okorie Chukwuma who confessed to the crime said he killed his Boss one Eyinaya Ogbonna, a business man based in United States of America who came to built a gas station in Abia state.  The suspect Mr Chukwuma in an interview with our correspondent said he was arrested when he came to sell the Venza Car of his Boss in Port Harcourt after killing the owner. Meanwhile,Public Relations Officer Mr Nnamdi Omoni while parading the suspect said the deceased employed the suspect through the Abia State vigilante Service. IYC President Personal Driver Confirm Kidnap Of His Boss

 President of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC; Deacon Peter Igbifa has been kidnapped. Deacon Igbifa was reportedly whisked away around 8:45am today along the Port Harcourt International Airport road en route Abuja for a meeting. Confirming the incident to our correspondent via the telephone, Igbifa’s personal driver, Wisdom Emmanson, said the IYC President was whisked away at gun point. He said some of the abductors were masked and wielded guns associated with secret police officers. When contacted, the Spokesperson Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni said the command is yet to confirm the incident and promised to get back to our correspondent. The incident is coming less than 24 hours to the expiration of the ultimatum given by IYC to the federal government to constitute a substantive board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

President IYC Worldwide Kidnapped By Unknown Gunmen

 The president of Ijaw Youth Council ,IYC ; worldwide, Deacon Peter  Timothy Igbifa has been kidnapped by unknown masked men with gun. The incident happened today along PortHarcourt  international airport road . Deacon Igbifa in his last words to his  personal driver,  was" I am kidnapped but tell the people that the protest must hold, no body can infringe on the right of Niger Delta people". Military Plane Crashes, Killing 8 Persons Onboard Including Chief Of Army Staff

  A Military Beachcraft 350 aircraft has crashed at the Kaduna International Airport  today, killing eight persons onboard including the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru. Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer of the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria, Mr Akin Olateru, confirmed that the eight persons died onboard. Meanwhile,the Nigerian Air Force confirmed that there was an accident involving one of its aircraft in Kaduna but did not provide details. The NAF in a tweet  by its Director of Public Relations and Information, Edward Gabkwet said "An air crash involving NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon.”

Andoni Monarch Still In Kidnappers Den , Five Days After Abduction

  The  Traditional Ruler of Ayama Ekede Town in Andoni local government area of  Rivers State, King Bibama Ekpirikpo  is still in captivity five days after his abduction by unknown gunmen. Son of the abducted royal father,  Jonathan Ekpirikpo narrated how the 92-year-old paramount ruler was kidnapped from his home. Mr Ekpirikpo who expressed fears over the health status of the King, wondered why the kidnappers would decide to abduct a traditional ruler of that age. Speaking on the matter, Chairman of the Ayama Ekede Community Development Committee, Mr Wari  Wari appealed to the abductors of the Andoni royal father to release him unconditionally. Mr Wari urged the government to live up to it's expectation of protecting lives and property.  When Contacted the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr  Nnamdi Omoni said he was yet to be informed about the incident.

Suspected Cultists Kill 3 Persons In Andoni

  Suspected members of rival cult groups have gunned down three persons during clashes in Ajakajak Community Andoni local government area. Our Correspondent gathered  that trouble started when a rival cult group invaded the community and engaged another group  that were resident in the community in a shoot-out.  The shoot-out which according to reports lasted for over three hours,  left some  persons injured. Meanwhile, Police is yet to confirm the  incident as at  the time of filling this report.

Take The War To Their Hideout Acting IGP,Charges Newly Inaugurated Operation Restore Peace Team In The South South

 The Acting Inspector General of Police; Mr Alkali Usman has charged newly inaugurated Operation Restore Peace team in the south south zone to flush out criminal elements in the region. Mr Usman who gave the charge at the flag off of the operation in PortHarcourt  , told men and Officers of the team to take the war to the hideout of the criminals . Speaking at the event, the Acting Inspector General of Police Mr Alkali Usman said the recent rise of insecurity in the south south and southeast was alarming and explained that the operation will also be replicated in other parts of the country. Lady Escape Death In PortHarcourt As Stray Bullet Suspected To Be From C4I Brush Her Bumbum

  A twenty three year old lady, Miss Victoria Obiora residing at Obidanso Street Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt has narrated how she narrowly escaped death from a stray bullet last night. Recounting her ordeal, Victoria said as C4I Police Personnel were    shooting   at their base in Iheodima street,  a bullet pierced the wrapper she was tieing while laying down inside her compound and brushed her bumbum.     Meanwhile, the Mother of Victoria,  Ndidi Obiora expressed worry at the alleged random shooting most times by personnel of C41 Police unit located at Iheodioma Mile 2 Diobu, without reason. Unknown Gunmen Kills 4 In Ogoni Community

  Four persons have been killed in kono Boue community, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State by Unknown Gunmen. We gathered that the gunmen who invaded the area over the weekend in possession of Ak 47 riffle shot at any young man on sight. The Public Relations Officer of the Community Development Committee, CDC; Golden Nwibakpo in an interview with our Correspondent decried the incessant killings in Kono Boue community. Mr Nwibakpo said that the four men who were killed do not belong to any cult group but are law abiding citizens of the community. Mr Nwibakpo suggested that a Police station should be built in the community to curb the incessant killings while urging the Rivers State Government to make the deplorable road in the community motor able to ensure proper patrol of the area by security agencies. Unknown Gunmen Kills Five Persons In Oyigbo LGA

 Five persons have been killed in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State by unknown armed men. This occured after  Governor Nyesom Wike, announced that some of the unknown gunmen who killed security personnel in the state had been apprehended and would be charged to court. According to reports, four of the victims were allegedly among the group of gunmen that killed seven policemen in the state last week, and fled with bullet wounds including a nurse identified as chichi who was caught up in the gunfire where she was treating them at a medical facility in the area. Unconfirmed report alleged that the five persons were killed by a tactical team of the Nigeria Police , who had stormed the hideout in two Hilux vans and a sienna and  opened fire on them.  Worried by the incessant killings across the country, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Rivers State joined it's National Body in a special prayer session for God's Swift intervention for an end to the lingering security challenges bedeviling the nation. Governor Wike Promise Twenty Million Naira To Families Of Police Officers Killed In Rivers State

  Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has pledged the sum of Twenty Million Naira to each of the family of the eleven police personnel recently killed by unknown gunmen in the state. Rivers State Government Reviews Curfew Time From 7PM To 6Am

  Rivers State Government has reviewed the time of curfew from 7PM -to- 6AM on the entire twenty-three Local Government Areas of the State with effect from tomorrow. In a state broadcast, Governor Nyesom Wike said the decision to impose the curfew on the entire State was to further beef up security and to protect lives and property.   Governor Wike also urged security agencies to note the new curfew time to arrest and prosecute defaulters.  The Governor who frowned at the increasing rate of attacks and killings of security personnel in the state  said no amount of intimidation will make the state succumb to any secessionist agenda. 7 Police Officers Killed In Rivers By Unknown Gunmen, 5 Riffle Missing

 Rivers State Police Command has confirmed last night's  series of attacks on Policemen and vehicles by unknown gunmen in the state. In a statement by the police public relations officer Nnamdi Omoni, the incident which led to the death of seven Policemen occurred at  the special check point at Choba bridge where two Policemen on duty were killed and  a private car belonging to one of the Policemen was set ablaze. Displaced persons From Andoni Communities Cry For Help

  Displaced persons in some Andoni Communities, Rivers State are calling for quick intervention from government and relevant agencies.   The residents who were internally displaced  as a result of cult clashes, lamented that since they fled their homes to an IDP camp in Kaa Khana local government Area , life have become unbearable for them and their children no longer  go to school . Job Seeker Raped And Murdered In Akwa Ibom, Police Arrest Suspect

  The Akwa  Ibom  State Police Command has  arrested one Uduàk  Frank  Akpan, 20 year old for kidnapping, raping and murdering of one Miss Iniobong Umoren. Police Public Relations Officer of the command Sp Odiko Macdon in a statement said on Friday , the Command received a report on the disappearance of the victim.  Following available leads,   Men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Command, led by  CSP Inengiye Igosi, consolidated on the initial progress made by the DPO Uruan ,  SP Samuel Ezeugo arrested the perpetrator who confessed to have lured his victim to his house in the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death.  To cover his tracks, he dragged and buried her in a shallow grave in his father's compound.
