Rivers State Government Partner Police On Zero Crime

  By Awajis George   Rivers State Government has reiterated it's commitment in the fight against crime and criminality. The State Governor, Sir Sim Fubara stated this during a press conference organized in Port Harcourt on Wednesday 30th August 2023 by the Rivers State Police Command to flag off the Rivers Zero Crime Campaign . Governor Fubara who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu appreciated the synergy that has been expressed by stakeholders, noting that if Rivers State was not peaceful and free of crime, development would not be sustained and people would not sleep with their eyes closed. “We are synergising with the police to ensure that Rivers State is peaceful, loving and calm to everyone who comes here to do business. I want to plead with all of us that this is not a thing we should leave for the police or religious leaders alone. I want to tell us that all of us must play a role, it is a time for everybody to participate.” Governor Fubara quipped.

Police Apprehend Suspect Who Murdered An Inspector

  By  Awajis George  In the last one week,the Rivers State Police Command says it has arrested at least six armed robbery and suspected kidnappers .  Commissioner of Police, Nwonyi Emeka in a press briefing at the Command's headquarters in Port Harcourt said on Friday 25th August,Police operatives received distress call regarding abduction of a male victim at Okporo in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. CP Emeka said Hawk Tactical Team mobilized to the scene and  arrested one  Ikechi James and rescued the victim, recovered the vehicle,some rounds of ammunition and assorted charms . RSG Reiterate Commitment On Delivering Quality Healthcare

Winners Chapel Security Men Arrested Over Stolen Church Property

  By Awajis George  Six security personnel of a private security company in charge of safe guarding lives and property of Winners Chapel Church, Rivers State headquarters at Kaduna street,D-line,Port Harcourt are now in Police net for allegedly stealing and attempting to sell church property. We gathered that the church security personnels were intercepted by men of PHALGA Security Watch when they were conveying the heavy iron rods and other church property to a place in D-Line where the items will be sold. In an interview with our Correspondent,the Chairman of PHALGA Security Watch, Mr.Victor Ohaji said he got intelligence at about 1am today Sunday August 27 2023 that the security personnel of the church were conveying iron rods and other church property to unknown destination with a truck. Black Saturday: Police Officer Shot Dead On Duty By Hoodlums In Rivers State

By Awajis George Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of an inspector attached to the Department of Operations, Yenagoa,  Bayelsa State. The Police Officer who was escorting his Principal was shot on the head around Landmark Hotel at Oroworukwo, Olu Obasanjo road, Port Harcourt on Saturday, 26th August, 2023.  Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko who in a press statement confirmed the incident, said that the riffle and barret of the officer were carted away by the unknown gunmen. SP Iringe-Koko stated that patrol teams have been mobilized to the scene, noting that effort is ongoing to arrest the fleeing hoodlums and recover the rifle.  As at the time of filling this report, the corpse of the officer has been deposited at the Military Hospital in Port Harcourt for autopsy.

Suspected Street Light Cable Vandals Apprehended In Port Harcourt

By Awajis George  Two suspected street light cable vandals were  arrested early morning Friday August 25,2023 at fruit garden area of D-line, Port Harcourt,Rivers state by men of local vigilante group,PHALGA Security Watch and handed over to Olu-Obasanjo Police Division. In an interview with our Correspondent,Chairman of the security outfit Mr.Victor Ohaji explained that at about 2am he got a distress call from his men at the fruit garden area that hoodlums numbering over ten were breaking shops and trying to vandalize the street light cables. Mr. Ohaji said he immediately mobilized his men and drove to the scene and the hoodlums on sighting them took to their heels but they were able to apprehend two of the hoodlums,one named Emeka and other one named Chibuike. Rivers State Students Protest Over Armed Robbery Attack, Seek Maximum Security

  By Awajis George  Protesting Female students of the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt have besieged the school campus following an armed robbery attack that occurred at the early hours of this morning, Thursday 24th August 2023 at Hostel D. Some of the aggrieved students told our correspondent that the armed robbers stole their properties including cash. Other protesters said they were raped by the robbers who had unhindered access to the hostel. As of the time of filling this report, the school authorities is yet to come out with official statement on the development. Suspected Fraudsters Arrested For Burying New Born Baby Alive In Port Harcourt

     PHALGA Security in conjunction with Rivers State Neighbourhood Watch and Azikiwe Police Division have arrested about twelve Internet Fraudsters who allegedly buried a new born baby alive at Andoni waterfront in Eagle Island,Port Harcourt on Wednesday, 23rd,August,2023.   Chairman of the security watch who doubles as the Chief Security Officer of Eagle Island Mr. Victor Ohaji in an interview with our Correspondent said he got intelligence that some 'yahoo yahoo' boys were doing incantation at the waterfront. Mr. Ohaji said he mobilized with his men and on getting to the waterfront,the 'yahoo'  boys have left, on close observation,it was discovered that the suspected 'yahoo' boys buried something at the waterfront. Police In Rivers State Rescue Nine Kidnap Victims

  By Awajis George   Rivers State Police Command has rescued eight kidnapped victims and neutralized two suspects.  Commissioner of Police,CP Nwonyi Emeka made the disclosure during a press briefing at the Police headquarters in Port Harcourt . CP Emeka said the Command on wednesday 16th August,2023  received information that two men were seen at Buguma river with suspected kidnap victim. He said the operatives mobilized to the scene and the hoodlums on sighting the Police took to their heels, while the two victims were rescued. Court Remands Teacher For Defiling 3 Year Old Girl

  By Awajis George  A Port Harcourt magistrate court has remanded one David Olufemi Alonge at the Port Harcourt correctional centre for alleged defilement of a 3 years old female  child . David Alonge, a teacher at the Rarykene International school, Rumuodumaya in Obio Akpor  Local Government Area was  arraigned for allegedly defiling the 3 years old pupil of the school by Inserting his finger and manhood into her private part thereby committing an offence punishable under section 33 sub section one of the Rivers State Child's Right Law number 6 of 2022 . The suspect did not take plea  yesterday on arraignment as the charge was  not read to him following an existing legal advice from the office of the Attorney  General that such offence for which the accused person was being charged  for should be tried under section 32 sub 2 of the child right law of Rivers State . Police To Flag Off Operation Zero Crime In Rivers

  By Awajis George  As part of efforts to combat crimes and make Rivers State a safe haven for both residents and investors, the Rivers State Police Command has decided to flag off 'Operation Zero Crime' in the State. The one-week programme, initiated by the State Commissioner of Police, Emeka Polycarp Nwonyi, is to ensure safe and crime free environment in the 23 local government areas of the State, as well as return confidence that 'police is your friend'. 13 Year Old Chizi From Rivers State Wins Silver Medal In Paris

  By Awajis George  Master Chizi Weli won the Silver Medal in Coding Computer Science in the just concluded International Science Technology and Mathematics Competition held in Paris recently. Master Weli, a 13 year old Class Two Student of Bishop Okoye Spiritant Secondary School,  Oyigbo in Rivers State was among other students of his school that went for the competition. The competition which started on the 12th of July, ended on the 19 with 44 countries in participation. According to him, his school was the only secondary school that represented the country in the international competition in Paris He said that ten students from his school participated in different areas of the competition and won trophies in different categories of grading such as Gold, Silver, Bronze and honours. Death Of Missing 15 Year Old Boy:Family Demands Justice,Seeks Rivers CP Intervention

  Family of the 15-year-old boy, Ekene Dike,  whose corpse was found at Mgbudaiya River in Obio Akpor, on Thursday 10 July,2023 have cried out to the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State over the death of their child.  Father of the deceased, Mr.Bartholomew Dike, dismissed comments credited to the police that the family was not interested in the investigation of the sad incident. In an interview with Journalists, Mr Dike said three suspects , Udoh, Elijah and Chima, had taken his son  to the Mgbudaiya River where his dead body was later found on 10th August. Tragedy: Missing Fifteen Year Old Teenage Boy Found Dead In Rivers State

  By  Awajis George  A fifteen year old boy ,identified as Ekine and resident of Mile 2 Diobu Port Harcourt who was reported missing on Monday August 7,2023 was found dead around Mbudayia River in Rumulomeni,Obio Akpor  Local Government Area of Rivers State today Thursday August 10 2023. We gathered that the parents of the deceased teenager had reported a case of missing person to the Police on Tuesday, 8,August,2023. A source privy to the incident told our Correspondent that the corpse of the teenage boy was seen by a boat driver today when it floated on the River. We learnt that the parents of the teenager were informed and upon arrival of the scene they discovered, it is their missing son. Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident,said the parent of the teenager have buried their Son as the bereaved said they were not interested in any case.

Rivers State Police Command Confirms Arrest Of Policemen Who Murder Father Of Three

  Rivers State Police Command says it has received a complaint from one Mrs.Ebikere Peterside of Polis Road, Elelenwo, in Port Harcourt, that on Thursday, August 3, 2023, while at a Bar/Lounge in company of her husband and three children, all of a sudden, pandemonium broke out, and in the midst of the confusion, mobile policemen from 43 PMF Gombe on special duty in Rivers State on guard fired several shots that hit her husband.                       Late Peterside   Police Public Relations Officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement said the victim was rushed to Savealife Hospital, where he was certified dead by the doctor on duty.   While his corpse has been deposited at the Military Hospital Mortuary.   SP Iringe-Koko added that the policemen have been arrested and detained at the State CID for further investigation, and the outcome of the investigation will be made public.  

Breastfeeding Week: Rotary Club Of Port Harcourt Donates Diapers To Mothers
