In a statement by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command acknowledged the constitutional right of citizens to gather and protest peacefully, not forgetting that mischief makers may want to exploit the opportunity of the planned protests to create chaos and civil unrest. According to the statement, the Command commended those who have opted for alternate, lawful means of resolving the issues raised by the organizers, while recognizing the possibility of hoodlums hijacking the protests.
