  Operatives of the Anti Kidnapping Unit in a sting operation stormed a forest at okomoko, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State  where they rescued one Barrister Bisola Ajayi who was abducted from her residence in Rumuokwurushi last week Sunday.   Miss Ajayi was rescued alongside Mr. Paul Nyulaku of the British High Commission Abuja, who was kidnapped at NTA Road Mgbuoba.   Briefing Newsmen at the Command headquarter in PortHarcourt , Commissioner of Police Mr. Joseph Mukan explained that during the operation one of the kidnappers, Chinedu Chigbu was arrested while one other was fatally wounded in exchange of gun-fire and was confirmed dead in a hospital.   Mr. Mukan while noting that some of the hoodlums escaped with gun wounds appealed to residents of Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas to increase their security consciousness and report anybody with gunshot wounds to the nearest police station.   Cp Mukan said efforts are on to arrest...

 Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping  Unit of the Rivers State Police Command have rescued Barrister  Bisola Ajayi who was abducted by unknown gunmen at her residence in Rumuokwurusi  Obio-Akpor Local Government Area .   DSP Adewale led the Operation into a thick forest in Etche local government to rescue the young lawyer and one other person, while two persons were arrested including an armed dealer.   Commissioner of Police Mr. Joseph Mukan says preliminary investigation shows that the kidnappers of a female lawyer, Bisola Ajayi had earlier abducted a man and used his car to kidnap her same day at her residence . Mr. Mukan who also clarified that the kidnappers used military camouflage to abduct Miss Ajayi said their identity was already known to the security agency. The commissioner made this known when members of the taskforce set up by the Nigerian Bar Association to secure the release of the female lawyer visited him in his office. The Commissioner told the members that police have intensified efforts to ensure the unconditional release of the female lawyer.  Earlier, leader of the delegation Mr. John Akpokpo-Martins appealed to the Commissioner of Police to intensify their search for the unconditional release of their female colleague abducted three days ago in Port Harcourt.  

 Reactions have continued to trail the banning of Special Anti-Robbery Squad ,SARs; and other Tactical Units from patrolling and mounting roads block by the Inspector General of Police,IGP Mr. Mohammed Adamu  . A police officer who would not want his name mentioned stated that the drastic measure taken by the IGP is a welcomed development. The officer blamed the OC of SARs and other tactical units leaders for not giving proper orientation to their men. He expressed sadness over the denting of image caused by SARs to the ordinary police officer who is ready to carry out the duty of protecting lives and property of citizens.   There was unrest and chaos last night at Oyigbo local government areas of Rivers State  as hoodlums suspected to be proscribed IPOB members reportedly abducted and killed a Police Officer who is a native of Enugu State said to be attached to Special Anti-robbery Squad,SARS; . The Rivers State Executive Council has approved the reopening of schools in the State with effect from Monday October 5, 2020. The Council took the decision at an emergency session presided over by the State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Friday, September 25, 2020 at Government House, Port Harcourt. The Commissioner for Education, Professor Kaniye Ebeku announced this while briefing journalists at the end of the meeting. According to him, all Secondary Schools, Vocational Schools, Universities and other Tertiary Institutions are affected by the directive. He however stated that Council did not approve the reopening of primary schools based on expert medical advice. Professor Ebeku added that Council also approved the setting up of a Seven-man Taskforce to monitor and enforce the compliance of COVID-19 protocols in the various schools.
