Police Detained Man Who Raped Neighbour's Daughter In Rivers

  One Mr. Erekeere Daniel has been detained at Bori Police Division at Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State following his arrest on the alleged  raping of a twenty year old girl at Luegbo Beeri community in Khana Local Government Area. A community source said the suspect, who is a married man and father of two on pretence of looking for wheelbarrow to hire,broke into the house of his female neigbbour on noticing that the neigbours went out very early in the morning and left only the twenty year old daughter in the house, raped the girl. Report says the suspect, overpowered his victim and raped her but was apprehended by neigbours who later came to the scene due to the screaming of the lady. A cousin to the victim who did not want his name mentioned confirmed the incident . When contacted, the image maker of the Rivers State Police command, Mrs. Grace Iringe- Koko promised to get back to our Correspondent on the matter.

Magistrate Court Sentenced Two Women To 12 Years Imprisonment For Child Trafficking

  A Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt have convicted two women Chinaza Smart and Amarachi Ahukanna aged twenty one and twenty eight year old, to twelve years imprisonment for conspiracy and child trafficking. The two accused were convicted for conspiring to sell two year old boy Daniel Smart, second son of the 1st Defendant Chinaza Smart, to a woman by name precious who is at large, at Ihiala, Anambra State, for the sum of four hundred thousand naira. The Presiding Magistrate, Chief Magistrate Felicitas Amanze, in her judgement convicted the two accused for commiting a heinous crime against an innocent child whose whereabout is yet unknown till date. The court held that the 2nd Defendant Amarachi Ahukanna who introduced the 1st Defendant Chinaza Smart to the child trafficking business lied to court, that she did not convinced the 1st Defendant to sell her son, in order to raise money to travel to Dubai were she can earn four hundred thousand naira monthly. APC Postpones National Convention,Set To Conduct Zonal Congress

  The All Progressives Congress ,APC; has confirmed that activities for its forthcoming National Convention will commence from February 24. National Secretary, APC Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee ,CECPC;  Sen. Tipper Driver Allegedly Commits Suicide In PortHarcourt

A Tipper Driver identified as  Justice from Rivers State has allegedly committed suicide. The young man was found dead  with rope tied on his neck and hung on a tree at back of Octopus Sandfill jetty at Eagle Island yesterday. Mr.Justice was said to be a member of Tipper Drivers Association of Nigeria,Eagle Island branch. When our correspondent visited the place, members of the Association were in an emergency meeting over the incident. Lady Scalded With Burning Stove Allegedly By Police Officer Discharged From Hospital,Insist On Justice

  The 32 year old lady,miss Jane Amos who was allegedly sc alded with burning stove by a Police Officer in Rumuokwuta,Obio Akpor Local Government Area last month has dismissed insinuation making the rounds that she has dropped the case. Court Judgement: Ogbogoro Paramount Ruler Reclaim Property , Destroy Uncompleted Building

A High Court sitting in PortHarcourt has declared Chief Felix Amadi as the rightful paramount ruler of Ogbogoro community in Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers State after chieftaincy tussle that lasted over fourteen years . Construction of Bodo-Bonny Road: Residents Of Asarama Lament Loss Of Farmlands

  The people of Asarama in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, have lamented the loss of farmland, loss of tributary and lack of employment following the ongoing construction of Bodo-Bonny Road that passes through their community.   A seventy year old man, Mr.Sylvester Azubuike from Ozuzu in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State has petitioned the Commissioner of Police, Mr.Eboka Friday on issues bordering on malicious damage of his house at Ozuzu by the member representing Etche constituent in the Rivers State House of Assembly by Mr.Nnana Opurum. Mr. Azubuike in an interview with Newsmen after writing his statement at Criminal Investigation Bureau ,CIB; unit at Police headquarters where the case was minutes to by the Rivers State Police command,said in 2018 the house of Assembly Member brought in bulldozer in a bid to construct a market and the bulldozer destroyed part of his house . SCIID Takes Over Case Of Gang Defilement Of 12 Year Old Girl

  The Rivers State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department ,SCIID;  has taken over case of alleged defilement of a twelve year old girl by three boys aged 15,15 and 14  at Rumudomaya in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of the State. Man dies In Hotel Room In PortHarcourt After Checking In With A Lady

A yet to be identified man has been found dead in a hotel at Ada George axis of Port Harcourt in the early hours of today.  , few hours after checking into the hotel with a  lady. A guest in the hotel who did not want his name mentioned to our correspondent that the man died few hours he checked into the hotel with a  lady. The eyewitness explained that the lady raised an alarm when the deceased slumped in their room that attracted the attention of  other guests in the hotel. According to the guest, the manager of the hotel and security men   rushed the  man to hospital and also informed the Police on the incident. On getting to the hospital the man was confirmed dead. Banigo Inaugurates Protect The Girl Child Initiative Peer Group

NAWOJ Calls For Establishment Of Gender Desk In Police Divisions

  Nigeria Association Of Women Journalists,  NAWOJ; Rivers State chapter has urged the Nigeria police to give top priority to  Gender Based Violence, rape and any other forms of ill treatment against women and girls. Chairperson of the Association Mrs. Susan Serekara-Nwikhana made the appeal when she led some members of the Association on a courtesy call to the former police Public Relations Officer of the Rivers State Police Command Mr.Nnamdi Omoni who is now the new DPO of Elimgbu Police Station. World Cancer Day: Early Detection Saves Life

  As the world commemorate Cancer day which is the second leading cause of death globally , the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ Rivers State in collaboration with Engraced Life Foundation has advocated for early detection as it saves lives. Speaking while commemorating the Day with a cancer sensitization campaign at Government Girls Secondary School  Rumuokwuta, Port Harcourt, Chairperson NAWOJ, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana, said the organisations wants to ensure Rivers State and the country at large is Cancer free.   Cancer has been identified as the second leading cause of death globally and it occurs at any age. It is based on this that the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ,NAWOJ; Rivers State chapter in collaboration with a non- governmental organization, Engraced Life Foundation has organized a World Cancer  Day Pink Room in commemoration of the Day. Ikwerre Muslims Commend Governor Wike For Fighting Illegal Bunkering

  The Ikwerre Muslims Association has commended the Rivers state government over the fight against illegal crude oil bunkering in the state. The Association who spoke through the President, Alhaji  Abubakar  Asuru at the end of the association's general meeting in Port Harcourt called for the peaceful coexistence of Muslims in the state. Mr .Asuru also commended the four Ikwerre speaking Local Government Area chairmen for supporting the fight against illegal bunkering and urged Rivers people to desist from it. He called on Rivers state government as matter of urgency to role out social interventions for youths in the state in other not to indulge in other criminal activities. Ike Wigodo ,Elected New Chairman Of Rumuwoji Community

  The leadership of  Rumuwoji Community in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers State has reacted to the demolition of shanties  at Elechi Beach and Illabuchi Waterfronts. The newly elected Chairman of Rumuwoji Community council, Mr. Ike  Wigodo said there are also plans to demolition shanties within the major streets of the area to give way for development in accordance with the developmental master plans of the cluster. Mr Wigodo explained that  efforts are geared towards discussing with state government to ensure that the new mile one market is allocated to the rightful owners. Mr Wigodo while speaking after been inaugurated as the new chairman of the community said the lock up of shops for years  was not in the interest of the host community and government. The Chairman said peace, unity and development of the area will be the priority of his administration and  warned hoodlums residing in the area to steer clear.
