Justice for Chima : Court Slam Police Seventy Five Million Naira

 A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has awarded the sum of seventy-five million naira against the Nigeria Police in a fundamental Human Rights suit filed by the family of Late Auto  Mechanic, Chima Ikwunado who died  in police detention in 2019.    The family of late Chima  Ikwunado has filled a fundamental rights action against the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Rivers state, Benson Adetuyi  and four others following the alleged torture to  death of Chima Ikwunado  by four former members of the disbanded E-crack unit of the Nigerian police force while in their custody.  Justice S. I Mark in her judgment  awarded the cost against  the defendants for rights violation.   Lead lawyer to the family of Chima Ikwunado , Princess Lawrence spoke to Newsmen shortly after the court ruling. PDP Appoint Umar Damagum As Acting National Chairman

PDP Suspends National Chairman Over Alleged Anti Party Activities

  The Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Igyorov Ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State has suspended the National Chairman of the party, Senator  Iyorchia Ayu, with immediate effect. Senator Ayu was allegedly suspended for anti-party   activities after passing a vote of no confidence on him. PDP vs. Ortom: Governor Wike Challenge PDP Over Disciplinary Committee Summon

  Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has said his Benue State counterpart, Dr. Samuel Ortom will not appear before the National Disciplinary Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP over his alleged involvement in anti-party activities. Post Election: Rivers APC Faults Governorship Election Says It Will Head To Court To Claim Mandate

  The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has faulted the Governorship and House of Assembly Election that took place in the state last Saturday. Spokesperson of the party in the State, Mr Darlington Nwauju in a press briefing  in PortHarcourt told Journalists that the election was marred with violence which led to lost of lives. Election Crisis: Mother Of Ex-Councillor Shot In Rivers State

  The mother of a Former Councilor in Port Harcourt Local Government Council w as shot by suspected cultists this morning at Egede street, Mile 2 Diobu PortHarcourt over the refusal of the ex-Councillor Mr  Endurance Elenwo to pay "election security money' to cultists.   An Eyewitness said the suspected cultists led by one Zubi met the ex-councillor in the front of his house at Egede Street demanding for payment of the election security money".   According to reports, the ex-councillor insisted that he had no money to give to them ,this infuriated the hoodlums who started throwing bottles into his compound.   Mr Elenwo ran into his house and the suspected cultists opened fire on him. Rivers Election: DG Tonye Cole Allegedly Killed In Rivers State

  Report says the Ahoada West Campaign Director General of the Rivers state All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate Patrick Tonye-Cole , Mr. Chisom Leonnard was found dead after been whisked away from his Polling Unit. We gathered that Mr.Leonnard was allegedly killed by men who had earlier adducted him yesterday morning. The DG was however found dead in the pool of his blood yesterday evening with his body riddled with bullet. CP Echeng Commends Security Agents On Election Duty ,Assures of Commitment to Continuous Security

  The Commissioner of Police on Election Duty at the Rivers State Police Command, CP Echeng E. NGO Embarks On Mental Health Awareness Exercise

  YAHA, a global initiative for sustainable development goals under the European Act, EU, launched a mental health awareness road walk in Okirika Local Government Area in Rivers state under the European Union Act project. In an interview with our correspondent, the Executive Director of a non-governmental organization, NGO, YAHA Global initiative, Mr. Harrison Tubomini urged Nigerians to take mental health seriously and shun stigmatization of mental health patients. Federal High Court Reserves Ruling On Bail Application Of Rivers Reps Member

  Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has reserved judgement in the bail application on the money laundering case against Member Representing  Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2  Mr.Chinyere Igwe. The lawmaker  was alleged to have on the 24th of February, 2023 seen in  possession of  the sum of four hundred and ninety-eight thousand US Dollars. When the matter was called, Principals prosecuting counsel from the Attorney General office of Rivers State  applied to take over the prosecution from the police, which was not opposed by the defendant counsel but insisted to move the motion for the bail application.   Presiding Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam ruled that the principal prosecutor from the Ministry of Justice takes over the case and reserved judgement on the bail application. Wike Charges Commission To Complete Promotion, Employment Exercise In One Month

    Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has sworn-in members of the State Civil Service Commission and charged them to commence the promotion of civil servants across all levels immediately.   Governor Wike, who also mandated them to set up the machinery for the employment of the ten thousand Rivers youths into the State Civil Service, said both exercises are not political and must be completed in the next one month.     The commission, sworn-in at Government House, Port Harcourt on Monday has Sir.
