Police Threatens to Deal with Those who Attack and Loot Police Stations in Rivers

 The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph  Mukan  has threatened to deal decisively with all those who attacked and looted Police Stations in Oyigbo Local Government Area.  The CP who stated this during a meeting with DPOs and HODs of the Tactical Units in the command ordered them to carry out Intelligence and Patrols across the Command to ensure that the items looted are recovered and perpetrators arrested with immediate effect, as some persons have already been arrested and are being prosecuted.  The Police Public Relations Officers Mr. Nnamdi Omoni in a statement explained that the commissioner of police  further warns members of the proscribed Indigenous people of Biafra ,IPOB; to relocate from the State as machineries have been put in place to fish them out and would be dealt  with as a Terrorist group.  According to the PPRO, Parents and Guardians are urged to warn their Children and Wards to be law abiding or  bear the full weight of the law.  Mr. Omoni hereby enjoine

Rivers State Government To Employ 5000 Youths Into State Civil Service

 Rivers State Executive Council has approved the employment of 5000 youths into the State Civil Service. The approval was given during its meeting today which was presided over by Governor Nyesom Wike at Government House, Port Harcourt. Briefing journalists after the meeting, the State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Empowerment, Mr. Sylvanus Nwankwo said the youths must not be more than 35 years. He said there are existing vacancies in the civil service needing Engineers, Lawyers, Medical Doctors, Technicians and other fields of profession that these youths will fill.  Also addressing journalists, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim said the recruitment drive undertaken by the Wike administration will cushion the employment gap in the state. Court Remand IPOB Members in Correctional center

  A magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded the twenty-one suspected IPOB members to the Correctional Centre shortly after they were arraigned by the Rivers State Police Command. Chief Magistrate A. O.Amadi-Nna who declined to grant them bail also ordered the prosecution team to drop the case file with the registrar of the court for onward transmission to the Director of Public Prosecution unit of the Rivers State Ministry of Justice. Chief Magistrate Amadi-Nna who accepted that his  court lacks the jurisdiction to entertain the matter because of the nature of the charges also advised the lawyers to the twenty-one defendants to approach the high court and seek bail for their clients. Police Parades Suspects over Recent Attacks in Rivers

 The Rivers State Police Command have paraded twenty one suspects in connection with the recent attacks on police stations in Oyigbo and Omuma local government areas. Eight suspects were arrested at one mile area  while thirteen of them were arrested at Oyigbo local government area. The suspects were alleged to be  members of IPOB who hijacked the EndSARs protest. Briefing Newsmen at the Command Headquarters Commissioner of Police Mr. Joseph Mukan said three stations under Oyigbo Area Command were burnt during the attack. Mr. Mukan explained that another attack was also launched on mile one police station on the same day but were repelled by men of the force while some of the hoodlums were fatally injured and eight arrested. The Commissioner of Police said three officers were killed and burnt to ashes while several vehicles were also burnt. He added that the suspects will be charged to court after investigations.

 The Rivers State Police Command, the  Military, and other security agencies have gone round flash points in the state to ascertained the level of damage caused by suspected IPOB members and hoodlums. The Commissioner of police Mr. Joseph Mukan while briefing Newsmen at the Oyigbo Area command that was allegedly burnt down by IPOB members assured residents of the area adequate protection of lives and property. Protest takes New Shape as Group Pledge Support for Buhari in PortHarcourt

IAUE Suspend Three Students for Gang Raping a Female student

 The Management of  Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has suspended three male students who gang raped one of their female colleagues in the hostel.  The suspended students are Nnamdi Destiny of the department of Political Science, Ovunwo  Henry Sociology Department and Samuel Valentine of the department of Political Science . The first two have been arrested and handed over to the police, while the third student is still at large .  The matter has also been referred to the Students Disciplinary Committee to decide the  fate of the students. Meanwhile the room where the crime was committed has been sealed off and all occupants driven out of the hostel. The Registrar of the University has been directed to issue a memo banning inter-sex visits at any time of the day. 

Female student Gang Raped at IAUE ... Police Arrest Two

 The Rivers State Police command says it has commenced investigation into the alleged gang rape of a 100 level female student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumulomeni in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area by three male students of the institution.  Briefing newsmen in PortHarcourt,  Police Public Relations Officer Mr.Nnamdi Omoni said two suspects have been arrested in connection to the alleged crime while one is at large.  Mr. Omoni  said  preliminary investigation indicates that there is a hostel in the institution known for the infamous act of rape and assault of women.  The Police Image maker also said that the command will work with the School Authority to ensure the incident does not happened again.   The victim who  narrated her ordeal to our correspondent said she followed one of the suspect Destiny Azuibike to charge her phone in hostel C room 20 and  agreed to have sex, noting after Destiny left the room the second suspect Goodluck came in and had sex forcefully wit

Group Condemn Rape of A Female student of IAUE....Call for Justice

  Centre For  Basic Rights  Protection And Accountability campaign has condemned the alleged gang rape  of a female student of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education  by three male students of the institution at a hostel inside  the University.  The acting State Secretary of the group Mary Prince called on the Police to ensure thorough investigation into the incident and any suspect found culpable should be made to face the law.  Miss Prince said the organization got in touch with the Vice Chancellor of the University and the President of Student Union Government, to stress the need for Justice in the matter.  She  commended the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Ozo-Ndemele Mercuri and the President of Students Union Government  for ensuring the arrest  two suspects and handing them over to the Police.  In a statement, the Vice Chancellor of the University said they have arrested two of the suspects and handed them over to police are  still searching for the third suspect.  M

Family of Woman Allegedly Shot by OSPAC in Rivers Express Worries Over Inability of Police to Arrest the suspect

  Family of one  Victoria Ibrahim who was allegedly shot dead by an OSPAC member in Rumukpe Community Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State has raised alarm over the  failure of the Police to arrest the suspect linked to the killing.  Cousin to the victim,Mr.Baron Wisdom in an interview with our correspondent alleged that contrary to the claim that the suspect has been arrested he is still walking freely in the village.  Mr. Wisdom explained that his cousin was shot for no reason by the OSPAC member. When contacted,the  commander  of OSPAC in Emohua Local Government Area Mr.Emeka Wori,said he was aware of the incident and promised to get back to our correspondent. No More SARs as IGP Obeys Nigerians

  The Inspector-General of Police,  Mohammed  Adamu has dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad ,SARS; across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory . The IGP, while noting that the dissolution of SARS was in response to the yearnings of the Nigerian people, observed that by the dissolution, all officers and men of the now defunct Special Anti-robbery Squad are being redeployed with immediate effect. A statement by Force  Public Relations  Officer Mr.Frank Mba explained that the Force is constituting an Investigation Team which will  include Civil Society Organizations and Human Rights Bodies to work with the Police in investigating alleged cases of human rights violations.  It said the measure would enhance transparency and accountability in police services as well as providing a system of deterrence for erring police officers whose action clearly violates the rights of the citizenry. NBA Commeñd Police for Quick Rescue of Bisola from kidnappers

 The Nigerian Bar Association PortHarcourt Branch says it will synergise with the Police for effective Policing. The association made the promise when it  paid a thank you visit to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police  Mr. Joseph Mukan for the quick rescue  of their colleague  Miss Bisola Ajayi from the hands of her abductors. Chairman of the Association Mr. Prince   Nyekwere charged the police to ensure that the approach used in rescuing  Miss Ajayi, apply to all residents irrespective of class. Earlier, commissioner of police Mr. Joseph Mukan who  appreciated the Association noted that the quick rescue of Miss Ajayi was as a result of the cooperation of the public in releasing information. Serial killer Gracious David-West Sentenced to Death by Hanging

    A Port Harcourt high court has sentenced serial killer Gracious David-West to death by hanging for committing series of murder.   The  trial Judge, Justice Adolphus  Enebeli in his judgement said the convict Gracious David- West  should be hanged on his neck till he is dead.   Justice Enebeli found David West guilty of murder of over fifteen ladies in different hotels in parts of Rivers State and other states.   The Judge also discharged and acquitted  the 2nd defendant Nimi ThankGod the manager of a motel in Port Harcourt who was charged with misconduct of Corpse.   Our Correspondent reports that the judge said the convict is not worthy to live or be praised as his name implies.    Speaking to Journalists outside the courtroom the prosecuting Counsel Mr. Chidi Ekeh said the judgment will serve as deterrent to persons that take other people's lives without course.     On his part, counsel to the second defendant Lezina Amegua said the judgment have vindicated his client.     Mr

Police Rescue Infant ... arrest SuspectedTraffickers

  Rivers State Police Command has rescued a 14 day old baby boy allegedly sold for one million, three hundred thousand naira by his Grandmother, Mrs. Victoria Joseph when the baby was 4 days old. Parading the suspects, Commissioner of police Mr. Joseph Mukan said investigation was launched into the matter after one Mr. Christian Duru, the father of the baby reported the matter.  The commissioner said the grandmother was arrested and on interrogation led the detectives to Ukanafun in Akwa Ibom State where another suspect, Pauline Umoh was arrested. Mrs. Umoh took the Police to Mgbidi in Imo State where the buyer, Nwanyi Ifuobi was arrested and the baby recovered. Buyer of the baby, Nwanyi Ifuobi insisted she went to a motherless baby home to adopt the child before she was arrested. The Buyer explained that she was linked to the motherless babies home by a friend.
