  The Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development has  stopped the continued operation of unverified Community/ethnic based Youth Organisations in the state. The directive was issued today in Port Harcourt by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Roland Obed Whyte  while inaugurating the newly elected Engeni Youth Assembly executives at the conference hall of the Ministry.  Dr. Obed-Whyte reminded traditional  rulers, Council Chairmen and Community Development Committees in Rivers State that the State Government would clamp down on unregistered Community and  Ethnic based youth bodies in the state, adding that such unregistered organisations cannot operate if they do not undergo the revalidation exercise being carried out by the Ministry.   By  Martha Igbiks Participants at the just concluded State level Grand Finale Competition for Adolescent Kits, a UNICEF's sponsored Intervention programme targeting adolescents, have been urged to remain agents of change in reducing cases of stigma and discrimination and other HIV/AIDS related issues amongst their peers. The pilot training programme which had the participants drawn from Egegde and Nakan communities in PortHarcourt City  and  Obio/Akpor  local government areas of the State was done in commemoration of  this year's Day of the African Child celebrated every 16th of June and International Youth Day on August 11. Over three hundred members of the  Peoples Democratic Party in the state have defected to the All Progressives Congress in Isiokpo Ward 1 and 2 in Ikwerre Local Government Area . The defection took place during a PVC sensitization rally in Isiokpo. One of the leaders of PDP in the area,Mr. Chris  Chima-Wachije and Mr. Galaxy  Eleru who spoke on behalf of the defectors claimed that they never benefited anything from their former party after working for their victory in previous elections instead they benefited from APC member, Chris  Oyirinda-Amadi .   The people of Bille kingdom in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State are calling on the Federal and State Government to come to their rescue as some men in Military uniform invaded their community shooting sporadically, destroyed houses, tortured people and arrested some persons including the king of the kingdom who was later released. Chairman Bille kingdom Council of Chiefs, Chief Bennett Okpoki told Newsmen in PortHarcourt that at the early hours of yesterday the community was invaded by Military men in uniform. The chairman said four people were arrested by the Military Personnels and taken to an unknown destination. Chief Okpoki explained that the Military alleged an officer was killed on the Bille waterways which they accused the community of been behind the killing hence the invasion.  Hundreds of members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Opobo-Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State have defected to the All Progressives Congress in the state. Former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Local Government Area under Governor Nyesom Wike administration, Boma Brown who led the defectors boosted that the Peoples Democratic Party will find it difficult to secure up to twenty-five percent vote in Opobo-Nkoro.  One Inspector Salihu Kazeem who was accused by a seventeen year old girl Binla of taking her nude pictures and raping her around Ozuoba axis of PortHarcourt has been detained  on the orders of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday. Our correspondent who was at the Police headquarters reports that CP Eboka directed that the Police Officer be detained after hearing from the alleged rape victim and Inspector Kazeem while Investigation into the case continues. CP Eboka also directed that certain persons mentioned in the statement of the alleged victim and Inspector Kazeem should be invited to give voluntary statement. Meanwhile the alleged rape victim and the accused Police Officer have written their statements at the human rights desk at the Police headquarters in PortHarcourt.
