Rivers Police Arrests Officers Extorting Motorists At Rumuokoro Flyover In Port Harcourt

 By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu  The Rivers State Police Command has arrested three of its officers following a coordinated monitoring patrol by operatives from the Commissioner of Police  team, CP Monitoring Unit yesterday,29th October, 2024. Police Public Relations Officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement, noted that the operation, conducted under the Rumuokoro Flyover around 3 pm yesterday, led to the arrest of Inspector Sarah Anendei, Inspector Caroline Promise, and Inspector Christiana Jatau, who were caught engaging in a corrupt practice against innocent motorists under the flyover. According to the statement, two of the officers, Inspectors Caroline Promise and Christiana Jatau, were found conducting the unprofessional behaviour while out of uniform, further contravening police standards.  Their misconduct was captured on video by a mobile phone, providing clear evidence of their actions. Federal Government Provides Rural Emergency Health Care Service For Maternal Health

Three Dead Bodies Found As Helicopter Crash Into Bonny Waterways

Nigerian Army Averts Fire Disaster In Port Harcourt

 By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu  Troops of 6 Division, Nigerian Army have averted what would have been a major inferno at Rumuokwuta Roundabout in Port Harcourt after a premium motor spirit, PMS laden trunk fell.   In a swift response, the Acting Commanding Officer, 760 Transport Battalion, of Nigeria Army Major Al-mustapha Adams mobilised and led the 6 Division Fire fighters to the scene to prevent any fire outbreak.     The operation which was conducted with sister agencies ensured all safety and security protocols were strictly observed, while the area was cordoned off and all necessary preventive drills were carried out.   According to the Nigerian Army, no life or property was lost as the situation was brought under control.   Meanwhile, the General Officer Commanding, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam commended the troops for their efforts.   He assured the people of Rivers State and its environs of the division's determination to continue to carry out peo

Police Arrest Highway Robbers Terrorizing Port Harcourt-Owerri Express Way

Federal Government Dissolves Ministry Of Niger Delta, Sports

 By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu  The F ederal government has scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development. A statement by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, said the decision was made during the Federal Executive Council, FEC; meeting held today.   According to the statement, a new ministry called ministry of regional development will oversee all the regional development commissions, such as the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, North West Development Commission, South West Development Commission and the North East Development Commission.   While the National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.   The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.  

President Tinubu Sacks Five Ministers

  By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu  President Bola Tinubu has sacked five Ministers from his cabinet. The President announced this at the Federal Executive Council meeting at the State House, Abuja. Those affected are Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Uju Kennedy; Tourism, Mrs. Lola Ade-John; Education; Mr. Tahir Mamman, Mr. Abdullahi Gwarzo, State for Housing and Development and Mr. Jamila Ibrahim Minister of Youth.    President Tinubu has also nominated seven new Ministers in a major restructuring aimed at improving government operations. The seven newly nominated ministers are: Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda,;   Minister of Labour & Employment ,  Muhammadu   Dingyadi ; Mrs. Bianca Odumegu-Ojukwu as Minister of State Foreign Affairs; among others.   President Tinubu charged the newly appointed ministers to serve the nation diligently.  

Four Persons Arrested Over Disappearance of Corps Member in Ikuru Town, Andoni LGA

 By: Awajis Josiah-Chijindu  The Rivers State Police Command says investigation has commenced into the sudden disappearance of Mr. Yahaya Faruk, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who was deployed to Community Secondary School, Ikuru Town Andoni LGA, and has been missing since October 14, 2024. In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, on October 15, 2024, the principal of Community Secondary School, Ikuru Town, Mr. Anderson Awaji-Ogbana, reported to the Ngo Divisional Police Headquarters that Mr. Faruk could not be located within the school premises or the surrounding community.  It was later revealed that Mr. Faruk had been involved in casual employment with LDM Mining Company, also located in Ikuru Town.  According to the statement, upon receiving the report, the Police summoned Mr. Wen Hauiguo, the manager of LDM Mining Company, for questioning. Fear Grips Residents As Gunmen Kills Four In Ahoada East Local Government Area

Report has it that, the  gunmen suspected to be members of Iceland cult group invaded the community at about 2am Sunday morning with sophisticated weapons and assault rifles shooting sporadically and went  from house to house in search of their targets, killing four persons in the process. Community source disclosed that three of the killed persons are natives of Edeoha while one is a native of Ekata community still in Ahoada East LGA but resides in Edeoha. Intelligence sources revealed that the suspected Iceland cult members who carried out the killing came from a camp in a neighbouring community to carry out the overnight killing at Edeoha. Governor Fubara Approves Eighty-Five Thousand Naira As New Minimum Wage

Head of State Civil Service, Dr. George Nweke made this known when he addressed journalists after a closed-door meeting with the Governor and Leadership of Organised Labour in the state. Dr. Nweke further stated that the State Government will set up a technical committee that will work out the modalities of payment.
