More Witnesses Testify Against Police At The Judicial Commission of Inquiry

  The Rivers State Judicial Commission of Inquiry into alleged Brutality and Violation of fundamental human rights of citizens by operatives of the Nigerian police force has begun it's sitting after a four day Christmas break. Commencing it's sitting at the Obi wali International conference centre, the commission entertained five petitions from victims of police brutality and adjourned five brought before it by Mr Ogbonna Ifediora,Festus Isiago and others to 6th and 7th of January 2021. Unknown Gunmen Kills Two Persons In Rivers Community

  Two persons have been killed by Unknown gunmen suspected to be cultists at Luubara community in Khana Local Government area of Rivers State. A native of the community, Mr. Nwibani Barry told our correspondent that the gunmen who invaded the community at about 8pm last night, stormed into a beer parlour near the market square and shot at people. He revealed that two men Timothy Baridapdo and Bariyaa died at the spot while two ladies who sustained gunshot injuries were taken to the hospital by the Divisional Police Officer of Bori Division. Mr Barry called on relevant security agencies to come to the aide of the people in the community. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. It was not also clear if the dead victims are members of any cult group but a source said that the gunmen may be members of a cult group who were in search of their rivals. Police Parades Four Suspected IPOB Members,2 Kidnappers

 The Rivers State Police command has paraded four suspected IPOB members who  were alleged to be among those that destroyed four police stations in the state . Parading the suspects the commissioner of police Mr Joseph Mukan listed exhibits recovered from the suspects to include one transmission biafra radio set , large quantities of IPOB T-shirts , face caps ,one calendar bearing photograph of Nnamdi Kanu ,One  Television Set  Customized Matchetes, bearing members’ names  Substances used in the worship of their god, EZUMEZU    AMADIOHA JUJU. Police Makes Adequate Deployment Of Personnel Ahead Of Christmas And New Year Celebration

  Ahead of tomorrow's celebration, Rivers State Police command has deployed officers and men of the force across  local government areas  and waterways to ensure a hitch free Christmas. Police Detain Officer Who Brutalised Bus Driver In Port Harcourt

  Rivers State Commissioner of Police,Mr. Joseph Mukan has revealed that the Police Officer who allegedly assaulted a bus driver at Choba/Ada George road in Port Harcourt has been arrested.  The Commissioner of Police made this known when the State Chairman of Drivers Welfare Association comrade Isaac Lekia led the assaulted driver,Saviour Nwidam with other members of the union to the office of the Commissioner of Police . Police Arraign Inspector Accused of Killing Keke Driver In PortHarcourt

 Rivers State Police command has  arraigned a Police Inspector, forty-six year Oba Christian who was accused of shooting and killing one  Edmond  Ikechi, a Keke rider at Elikpokodu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government, on the 10th of December 2020. Arraigning him in charge number 361, the Command accused Inspector Christian of killing  Edmond Ikechi ,by firing him on the left side of his jaw with AK 47 riffle to death .  Chief Magistrate, A.O Amadi Nna declined jurisdiction on the matter and ordered that the case file be transferred to Department of Public Prosecution for advice. Our Correspondent reports that Chief Magistrate A.O Amadi adjourned the case to 25 February 2021.

Group Condemns Senseless killing of Innocent Citizens By Police Officers In The State

 Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the shooting to death of Mr Jimoh Abiodun,father of three children by a Police Officer attached to Elelewon Police Divisional Police headquarters  in Obio/Akpor Local Government area of Rivers State.  Secretary Board of Trustee Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign ,Prince Wiro in a statement urged the Commissioner of Police Mr Joseph Mukan to ensure perpetrators are brought to book.  Mr Wiro condemned the trend of killing of innocent citizens by Police officers in Rivers State and call for an end to the senseless killings.  While condoling with the family of the deceased victim , charged the CP to ensure that justice is done in the circumstance.

Police Brutality:Business Mogul Reveal How His Manager Was Murdered By A Police Officer

  More Victims of Police Brutality have continued to appear before the state Judicial Commission of Inquiry to reel out their Overwhelming evidences against the disbanded Special Anti-robbery squad , SARs; with a view to seek Justice. Police Condoles With Family of Man Shot Dead By An Officer

 The Commissioner of Police, Mr Joseph Mukan led Members of his Management Team on a Condolence visit to the family of late Abiodun Jimoh who was killed by a Police Sergeant serving at the Elelenwo Police Station.  Receiving the Delegation at the family House, the Wife of the deceased, Mrs Azeezat Abiodun thanked the CP for the visit but however condemned the sad incident and called on Authorities of the Police to investigate and ensure that her late husband is given justice.  She equally appealed to the Authorities to come to their aid,  noting that her late husband who was their breadwinner left so much responsibilities for them.  Earlier in his Condolence message,  the CP, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu , commiserated with the family and promised to bring about Justice in the circumstance, while appealing to them to maintain restraint and allow the law to take its course.  Meanwhile, the Police Sergeant,who carried out the evil act has been arrested

Police Condemn Killing of Man Shot Dead By An Officer

 Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph  Mukan  has condemned the killing of a civilian by a Police Sergeant   serving at Elelenwo Police Station.  A statement by the police public relations officer, Mr Nnamdi Omoni confirmed that the incident happened at the Station, where the Sergeant shot the Victim, Abiodun Jimoh who was immediately rushed to the Hospital but later died.  It states that His remains have been deposited in the Mortuary.  Mr. Omoni noted that investigations have commenced and the outcome will be communicated to the public.  Meanwhile the statement says  Police Sergeant who carried out the dastardly act is in custody  for debriefing and psychological evaluation.  His  Orderly Room Trial will commence in ernest, for possible arraignment.  The Command has commiserated with the family over  the unfortunate incident  and has assured them that the interest of justice will be served in the circumstance, while appealing for calm and allow the law  take its full cours

Father of Three Children Allegedly Killed By a Police Officer in PortHarcourt

  One Mr Jimoh Abiodun, a native of  kwara State has  allegedly been shot to death by a police officer attached to Elelewon police divisional headquarters at Obio/ Akpor local government area of Rivers  State over an iPhone.  Brother to the deceased, Ismaheel  Jimoh while narrating what transpired said Police officers on a patrol van stopped him and his brother while they were on motorbike going back to the house on Friday night and were taken to the station. He claimed that the officers asked them to bail themselves which they had just 1500 on them. Maritime Workers Protest Non Payment of Benefits By INTELS

 The Association of Maritime Workers Union has appealed to Federal Government, State Government, Nigerian Port Authority, NIMASA Director General to wade into the non payment of it's workers benefits by Integrated Logistic Services Nigeria Ltd,INTELS;   Chairman Senior Staff Maritime Workers Union, INTELS and Association Maritime Services AMS ,Mr. Sunday Atakpo,  made the appeal during a protest organised by the group at  INTELS in Onne Rivers State. Death Of Keke Driver:Justice Will Be Served,Police Tells Family Of Victim

  The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the death of a tricycle driver who was shot and killed by a Police Inspector on duty at Rukpokwu Junction in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.  The Command spokesman Mr. Nnamdi Omoni in a press statement said the incident attracted reaction from the Keke Drivers’ Union but was however immediately contained by Officers deployed to the area.  The statement further revealed that the  Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mukan,  condemned the incident and ordered the immediate commencement of the Inspector’s Orderly Room Trial.  Mr. Omoni explained that the inspector  is currently being tried, would be dismissed and charged to court for murder.  He condole the family of the deceased and the Keke Drivers’ Union, assuring them  that the interest of justice will be served in the circumstance, while appealing to all aggrieved persons to maintain restraint and allow the law take its full course. Brother to Former Supervisory Councillor Stab to Death Reacts

  A former supervisory councillor at Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Mr. Kinikanwo Amadi has allegedly been stabbed to death by his wife, Ihuoma Amadi at their resident at Nkporlu Rumuigbo. The 47 year old late Kinikanwo Amadi died after  a quarrel with the wife, which resulted to a fight . Reports says the late Kinikanwo Amadi allegedly accused the wife of having an affair with a man staying along their street. Our Correspondent who spoke to one of the Younger brother to the deceased, Victor  Amadi said his late brother with five children was killed by his wife according to the information, the first daughter who is fifteen year old told them when they rushed to his house around 1am today. Mr. Amadi said his elder brother was stabbed on different parts of the body ,adding that the wife has been arrested by the police at the hospital where he was confirmed death, while the corpse  deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Heavy Protest ongoing at Rupokwu as Police Officer Allegedly Shot Keke Driver

 Report says one tricycle driver was allegedly shot this morning by a police officer at Rupokwu in Obio Akpor local government area causing heavy traffic at that axis of Airport road. Eyewitness says youths and tricycle drivers are on rampage in the area burning tyres on the road . 89 Year Old Firewood Seller Appeals to Commission of Inquiry to Prevail on SARs Officers to Release his Son Dead or Alive

  An eighty nine year old firewood seller, Alioma Romeo has explained to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry how his first son Silas Romeo was arrested by SARs officers on the 15th of September 2016 at Aggrey road  on his way back from work. Mr. Romeo said he got a call that his son has been arrested and taken to Borokiri police station. He stated that he went to the station with twenty thousand naira to bail his son but was told his son was not in their custody. The Octogenarian appealed to the commission to prevail on the police to release his son dead or alive and compensation be paid to him. Also, retired customs officer Chief Ipalibo Manuel narrated to the commission how his 22year old nephew Godstime Adokiye was arrested on the 30th of September 2016 by SARs officers at Borokiri sand field where he went to  play football. Police Parades Suspected IPOB Members that Attack Gov. Wike's Father Church in PortHarcourt

 Rivers state police command has paraded three suspected IPOB members who were involved in detonating dynamite at the Christian Universal Church at Azikiwe street mile two Diobu Port Harcourt owned by Governor Wike’s father. Briefing Journalists at the command headquarters, the commissioner of Police Mr. Joseph Mukan said the arrest of the three suspects was possible with the help of local vigilante that apprehended them despite the other three escaped. He stated that no life was lost, adding that with further interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of IPOB with zones scattered around Port Harcourt. Mr. Mukan, noted that the suspects were promised promotion by their sponsors as soon as Biafra kicks off.   The suspects Progress Onwudinjo  37 year old from Etche Local Government Area, Apuru Victor  23 year old from Ebonyi State and John Okorie 38 year old from Abia State confessed to have carried out the attack. The suspects will be charged to court after investigation.

Commencement of Training for Special Constabularies, Police Shortlist Names

#World AIDS Day: "HIV Test is Free Get Tested", Commissioner for Health Urges Rivers Residents

  In commemoration of World AIDS day, Residents of Rivers State are charged to get themselves tested to ascertain their HIV  status  . Rivers State commissioner for Health,  Prof. Princewill Chike who gave the charge in an event organised by the ministry to mark the day, said HIV is real hence the need to know one's status. The Commissioner stressed that inline with the NEW Rivers vision, governor Nyesom Wike has made the test and treatment of HIV  free in the state  Prof. Chike lauded efforts of the state Governor  in assisting the Ministry with facilities to provide quality Healthcare  Services for residents of the state.  According to the Commissioner,  Governor Wike is the first Governor to declare the testing and treatment of HIV and AIDS free in the state. He explained that people living with HIV in the state have benefited alot from the state Government.
