  Culture has been identified as an avenue to unite people irrespective of religious beliefs. Rivers CP Order Release Of A Female Student Detained By Police On Complain By A Lecturer

Family Of a Female Student Of Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic Port Harcourt Rivers State has called on the general public  to come to their aid over intimidation and arrest of their daughter by a lecturer in Public Administration department Mr Tamunotonye  Solomon . Mother of the female student, Mrs.Ruth Audu in an interview with Newsmen said in April 2021 her daughter informed the family that the lecturer employed her as office assistant. Mrs. Audu revealed that two weeks after the daughter started working as office assistant to the lecturer, her daughter resigned because the lecturer allegedly started making advances towards her. She explained that some weeks after her daughter resigned, Police officers came to the campus to effect the arrest of her daughter but were resisted by the school security personnel who asked the Police to write officially to the institution. Four Persons Feared Dead In Ghastly Motor Accident In Rivers

 Four persons have reportedly lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident on Rukpokwu - Igwuruta road in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. Eyewitness at the scene of the accident said an eight month old baby was one of the four occupants in a Highlander Sport Utility Vehicle ,SUV; that went up in flames.  A driver of a Mini commercial bus explained that the driver of the SUV was trying to avoid hitting another vehicle when he suddenly skied into the median of the road that caused a chain crash. The driver who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the car and the occupants burnt before help came.  Public Relations Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps,FRSC;Julian Eni,confirmed the incident.  She said the burnt vehicle and carcass of the victims have been evacuated from the scene of the accident.

Man Commit Suicide In Igwuruta Ikwerre LGA

  A Young man, ThankGod Nwoha from Omuodukwu Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State has committed suicide. Mr Nwoha was said to have been found hanging on a tree at the early hours of  today . Youth President of Omuodukwu Mr. David Nwonkwo who spoke with our Correspondent expressed shock as the decease met him the previous day pleading for his forgiveness. He stated that the matter had been reported to the leadership of the community and the police. Our Correspondent who visited the scene of the incident reports that  sympathisers were trouping  in and out of the residence of the deceased.

Police Reassure Adequate Security As Christians Celebrate Christmas

 Rivers State Police Command has  reassured residents of the state that adequate security measures have been emplaced to ensure they enjoy a hitch free celebration .  Commissioner of Police Mr.Eboka Friday also remind members of the Public of the ban on  the use of fireworks,crackers and knockouts before, during and after the Christmas and New Year Celebrations. Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringi-Koko in a statement said the devices are explosives and harmful. Hoodlums Attack Mile 3 Market , Traders Lament Losses

  Hoodlums invaded Bayelsa line in Mile 3 market, Diobu,PortHarcourt Rivers State  broke shops rob customers and traders of their money and valuables. Some shop owners who pleaded anonymity told our correspondent they lost many valuables and money.   Chief Security Officer of Nkpolu Oroworukwo community, Godstime Ihunwo  told our correspondent that combined efforts of youths,Nkpolu Police Division, Mile 3 and Octopus Strike Force unit led to the arrest of eleven hoodlums suspected to be cultists. Mr Ihunwo also condemned alleged attempted made by the rampaging hoodlums to snatch riffle from a soldier attached to a construction company working at Ikoku junction, Ikwerre road . As at press time we gathered that five of the hoodlums were been detained at Octopus strike force while six  detained at Nkpolu Police Division Mile 3. Rivers New PPRO Solicit Support To Function Effectively

 Rivers State Police Command now has a new Public Relations Officer ,PPRO;Grace Iringe-Koko. DSP Grace Iringe-Koko took over from the Former PPRO, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni who has been redeployed to Elimgbu Division as the Divisional Police Officer ,DPO. The new PPRO until her appointment was the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the command who hailed from Okolobiri Town in Yenegoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. She was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as a Constable in 2000 and later elevated to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police in 2011.  The new PPRO  Iringe-Koko promised to build on the legacies of the outgone PPRO and solicits the cooperation of members of the public to succeed in her new appointment, while appreciating the CP and his team for giving her the opportunity to serve. Two Children Crushed To Death By TaskForce Officials , Father Calls For Justice

 One Mr. Segun Opikhara from Edo State whose two children miss Hiphzibah Opikhara one year six months and Master Joshua Opikhara three year six months have called on the Police,Obio Akpor Local Government Council as well as Rivers State Government to fish out the taskforce members who caused the death of his children. Highly traumatized Opikhara explained to Journalists that on Monday 13th December, 2021  his children were by the side of the road at after Easy Motors bus stop at number 316 Aba road in PortHarcourt, when a mini bus conveying four taskforce members alleged to be attached to Obio Akpor Local Government hit them while chasing a bus. Court Barred EFCC From Harassing, Intimidating, Inviting, Arresting Or Detaining Christian Ile And Others

 Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has barred the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC; from harassing, intimidating, inviting, arresting or detaining one Christian Ile and members Onuoha family in Ubima Community Ikwerre Local Government Area of  the State. FG Declares Public Holidays To Mark Christmas, Boxing Day And New Year Celebrations

  Federal Government has declared Monday 27th, Tuesday 28th December 2021 and Monday, 3rd January 2022 as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day and New Year Day celebrations respectively. Police Ban Sirens, Revolving Lights,Spy And Covered Plate Numbers In Rivers

  Rivers State Police Command says it has observed that criminals and other unauthorized persons are using Sirens, revolving lights,spy and covered plate numbers to commit crimes and other atrocities in the State. Police Public Relations Officer Mr Nnamdi Omoni in a release stated in view of the disturbing developments and sequel to the earlier Directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali  Usman on the abuse and indiscriminate use of  Sirens, revolving lights,spy and covered plate numbers without appropriate approvals, the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command has banned the use of these facilities in the State. Several Persons Injured In Accident At Igwuruta-Ali Airport Road

 Over twelve persons including children were seriously injured following an accident that occured along airport road at first gate Amasiamaka International stadium in Igwuruta-ali Ikwerre local government area of Rivers state. An eyewitness Mr Peter explained that the woman who was driving a Lexus jeep lost control ,jumped to the other lane and coiled with a fourteen sitter bus on high speed. Mr Peter said driver of the Lexus was making call when the unfortunate incident happened. RSU Medical College A Dream Come True: Wike

FRSC Indicates Readiness To Handle Emergency During Yuletide

FIDA Condemn Debasement Of A Woman Libel Witch In Rivers State

 The International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA; have condemned the  debasement and  indignity meted out on Madam Ann Sobrekon nee Eremie, a mother, grandmother, sister who was beaten, stripped naked, videos made and circulated through social media alleging her to be a witch.  Chairperson of the Association in Rivers State  Adata Bio-Briggs in an  interview with our correspondent said the fundamental human rights as contained in Chapter IV of the 1999 Constitution, particularly Section 34 provides for the right to Personal dignity and frowned at the infringement of the Right .  Bio-Briggs explained that the Association have been in touch with the family of Madam Ann Sobrekon who have confirmed that she has issues of dementia which is a medical condition. Federal Government Debunk Fake News Making Round On December Salary

  Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation has debunked News making round advising civil servants to exercise caution in spending their November salary because of possible delay in the payment of their December salary. In a release by the Director Communications AbdulGaniyu Aminu said the fake news has been published in some newspapers and some social media platforms without verification.  Mr Aminu stated that for the avoidance of doubt, the office at no time issued any circular in respect of salary. According to the statement, Nigerian Civil Servants and the general public were advised to disregard the contents of the fake circular as the work of mischief makers. Man Arrested For Defiling 4 Year Old Church Member

 A  24  year old man, Kinika Eke who allegedly defied a 4 year old daughter of his Church member at Ozuoba in Obio Akpor Local Government Area has been transferred from Ozuoba Divisional Police headquarters to State Criminal And Intelligence Department . The mother of the little girl told our correspondent  that they took the suspect as their brother because they attended the same Church.  The mother of the  victim  said they have been assisting the suspect financially and sometime leaves the house for him and their daughter due to trust. She explained that she came back  to the house last week and her daughter was in severe pains, touching her private part. Upon questioning her daughter told her that the suspect allegedly tampered her private part and penetration of the part was established by a medical examination. Police Re-Arrest Defilement Suspect Barely Twenty Four Hours

  A Forty year old man who was arrested for allegedly defiling a 12 year old girl in August 2021 and released  by the Divisional police headquarters in Eleme under unclear circumstance has been re-arrested . This came barely less than twenty four hours a Human Rights Advocacy  Group, Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign called on the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr   Eboka Friday to prevail in the matter. The suspect Collins Azunna was brought to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department ,SCIID; by the Police Division in Eleme and the case file transferred . National Coordinator of the group, Prince Wiro who was at  SCIID confirmed the development to our correspondent.  As a way of keeping the youths of Andoni Local Government Area away from crime and criminalities,six youths from the area  have been empowered with complete set for viewing centers businesses by the chairman of the Area Mr Erastus Awortu. The Council chairman during the presentation of the items at Ngo headquarters of the Area said the beneficiaries were carefully selected across the area through balloting system to reduced poverty .    A Human Rights Advocacy Group,  Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign has urged the Federal Government  to declare looters and 'kidnappers' of public funds as terrorists just as the Federal Government has declared kidnappers and bandits  terrorists. Two Remanded For Beheading Nine Year Old In Ikwerre

 The Magistrate court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded two suspects for beheading a nine-year-old boy from Agbandele community in Emuoha Local Government Area. The Presiding Chief Magistrate I.F Iyabo also directed the prosecutor to liaise with relevant Authorities and produce the third suspects Chibuzor Amadi on the next adjourned date. Court Remands Suspected Fake Lawyer In PortHarcourt

 A High Court in Port Harcourt has remanded to Police custody a suspected fake lawyer Stanley Adjogbe who has been practicing in Rivers State for over ten years. Mr Adjogbe was remanded following the request by the chairman of Nigeria Bar Association, NBA ;Port Harcourt branch, Prince Nyekwere that the suspect may escape if he is allowed to go.
