Rivers State Governor Describes Court Ruling As Victory For Party

  Rivers State Governor Barrister Nyesom Wike has stated that the plan of the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Prince Uche Secondus was aimed at sabotaging the efforts of Nigerians and PDP from rescuing Nigerians from the APC led federal government that has woefully failed the country. Governor Wike stated this while reacting to the Court of Appeal judgement on the application by Prince Secondus to stop the party’s convention slated for 30th and 31st of this month in Abuja. The Governor who described the judgement as a victory to every member of the PDP, said the court judgement is also a sign that the party is prepared to take over the governance of the country from the APC in 2023. Court Dismiss Application Filed By Uche Secondus , Order PDP To Go Ahead With Convention

 An Appeal Court siting in PortHarcourt has dismissed an application filed by  the Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP; Prince Uche Secondus seeking to stop the National Convention of the party slated for 30th and 31st of October. The ruling was delivered  by Justice Gabriel Kolawale on behalf of the two other judges . His ruling followed the dismissal of the application brought before the court by the former National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus, to suspend the conduct of the convention pending the determination of the suit before the same court on his status in the party. Justice Kolawale in his ruling, observed that the appellant did not challenged the decision of the party when he was  suspended by his ward and even at the state level. Court Of Appeal To Rule On Uche Secondus Vs PDP On Friday

 The Court of Appeal sitting in port Harcourt has fixed tomorrow to rule on the application for interim injunction filed by Former National chairman of PDP Prince Uche Secondus against the conduct of the National Convention of the Peoples Democratic party. Counsel to Mr Secondus, Mr. Tayo Oyetubo had earlier applied for order of interim injunction against the conduct of the convention scheduled to hold on the 30th and 31st of October pending the determination of his appeal. He argued that proceeding with the convention would permanently strip the appellant of his rights as his tenure was yet to expire. But counsel to the 1st to 5th respondents Henry Bello opposed the application saying that attempt to stop the convention was not part of the original application which seeks to reinstate Uche Secondus as National Chairman of the Party. Woman Kills Husband In Etche Community

  A 51 year old woman Mrs Gladys Napoleon from Chokocho in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing her husband Mr Napoleon Amadi. While parading the suspect at the state Criminal Investigation Department,SCID; in PortHarcourt , the Police Public Relations Officer Mr Nnamdi Omoni told Newsmen that Mrs Napoleon who admitted to have murdered her husband with a matchet was arrested on the 8th of October. The Police Image Maker said  preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect after using the matchet on the husband's head washed away the blood stain on it . Mr Omoni explained that the suspect, Mrs Napoleon will be charged to court after proper investigation on the matter. The Police spokesman advised members of the public especially families to use alternative means of resolving conflicts rather than resort to violence. Police Commence Recruitment Of 10,000 Constables

 The Rivers State Police Command has commenced the recruitment of ten thousand Constables into the Nigeria Police Force . The 2020 recruitment exercise which will take place on the 29th and 30th of October 2021 will hold at  Archdeacon Brown Education Centre, Woji by YKC Filling  Station by 7:30 am. Police Exhume Remains Of Late Ogoni King Kidnapped 2 Years Ago

 The decomposed body of the kidnapped Traditional Ruler of Luwa Community in Khana Local Government Area  of Rivers State , Chief  R.N Loolo has been found by the Police .  Late Chief Loolo, was kidnapped in June 2019 at his palace at about 8:50 pm.  Divisional Police officer in charge of Bori Divisional headquarters Khana local government Mr. Bako Angbashim led the team to a thick creek linking Luwa, Bera and Bani Community where the body was exhumed.  Mr. Angbashim said the discovery followed a thorough investigation and random search in various forests within the area.  The Police DPO who advised kidnappers and those behind criminal activities to vacate Ogoni land, further said his men will stop at nothing in ensuring that the perpetrators are arrested.  Meanwhile, children of the late king who joined the police to the creek, said they were traumatised over the kidnapped and discovery of their father's remains.  One of his children, Dr Douglas Fabeke said it is heartbreaking tha

Court To Decides Fate Of PDP National Convention On Thursday

 An Appeal Court sitting in Port Harcourt will on Thursday, 28th of this month determine if the National Convention of PDP will be held as scheduled by the party. This followed after the former National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus’s lawyer Tayo Oyetubo raised a motion for Interim injunction against the conduct of the convention. When the matter came up for hearing today, the motion for the interim injunction was not entertained since six other members of the Peoples Democratic Party filed an application for joinder.   The defendants’ lawyer including those who joined in the suit however opposed the moving of the motion for Interim injunction by Secondus’ lawyer, Mr.Oyetubo. Man Kills Cousin In Ogoni Community

 A man in his early twenties identified as Bobby Gabriel last night allegedly stabbed  his cousin Kopapa Neete  in his early forties to death  at Duburo community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State over an argument. Community source says  the suspect Bobby Gabriel fled after he allegedly stabbed his cousin to death. However,Chairman  Community  Development Committee,CDC; of  Duburo community , Mr Vincent Gbosi  who confirmed the incident to our correspondent added that the matter has been reported to Bori Divisional Police headquarters for investigation.

Road Safety To Partner NPA To Check Indiscriminate Parking Of Trucks

  Federal Road Safety Corps Rivers State command is to partner  Nigeria Port Authority ,NPA; Port Harcourt  to check indiscriminate parking of Trucks at the ports entrance in the State. Rivers State Sector Commander, FRSC, Mr. Salisu Galadunci made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to the new Manager of NPA in Port Harcourt. Mr. Galadunci  explained that the move was to restore sanity and free flow of traffic in the area. He stated that all operational vehicles owned by NPA will be certified in compliance with the Road Transportation Safety Standardization Scheme RTSSS of FRSC. The sector Commander also said  he will hold a discussion with Stakeholders in the transportation system operating within the port on how to realize the minimum safety standard for their trucks.   According to Mr. Galadunci, this is a follow up to the previous meeting with the NPA aimed at the implementation of FRSC Corps Marshal's Memorandum of Understanding on enforcement of Minimum Safety Standards

FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday To Mark Eidul--Mawlid Celebration

 The Federal Government has declared Tuesday  October 19th, 2021  as Public Holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid Celebration in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad . Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made this declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates all Muslim faithful both at home and in the Diaspora for witnessing this year’s occasion. He admonishes all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience and perseverance which are the virtues of the Holy Prophet Muhammad , adding that doing so would guarantee peace and security in the country. Man Arrested Over Corpse With Machete Cuts In Port Harcourt

  A man simply identified as Israel Israel who claimed to be a native of Andoni local government area was apprehended this morning when he was carting away a truck that was used in dumping of a fresh male corpse with suspected machete cuts on the face,head,leg and hand. A local security personnel in the area, Richman Jogwe told our correspondent that the man was apprehended with the truck that the dead body was dropped in and dumped in the water at the bridge at Churubim road, Mile 3 Diobu axis of PortHarcourt City local government area. Mr Jogwe further disclosed that the said Israel has been handed over to the police for investigation. As at press  time the male corpse was cited floating on  water at the  back of Mile 3 slaughter.

Speak-Up When Sexually Abused Banigo Urges Survivors

  Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr.  Ipalibo  Banigo says survivors of sexual abuse must speak up for the perpetrators of the heinous crime to be punished.   Dr. Banigo, reiterated this during a sensitization campaign on the theme “Dealing with Mental Health and Sexual Abuse in Unity Schools” organized by the support the Girl Child Initiative Programme of her Office at the Federal Government College in Port Harcourt.   Represented by her Senior Special Assistant, Barr. Rivers NUJ Says Without Private Media Houses Participation,No Election

 Thirteen Private chapels of the Rivers State Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ; have insisted that without the participation of the registered private media houses in Council"s  election, the exercise will not take place in the state. Two Students Crushed To Death By Trailer In PortHarcourt

  Two secondary school students have been crushed to death by a trailer under the mile 1 flyover in PortHarcourt City local government area of Rivers State. Reports say the two male students  between the ages of 12 and 13 years were about crossing the road but decided​ to hold on​ by the fence under the flyover when the trailer  while reversing suddenly hit  and pressed them to the wall cutting off their head Angry youths in the area attempted to set the trailer ablaze but were prevented by the police The whereabout of the driver is yet unknown as he took to his heels when the incident happened. Groups Calls For Thorough Investigation Into Inhumane Treatment Melted On Etche Assembly Leader
