Police Arrested Two Cultists in Connection with Rivers Community Shooting

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the shooting that rock Amadi -Ama Community in PortHarcourt City Local Government Area early this week. The police image maker Mr. Nnamdi Omoni said men of Special Anti Robbery squad, SARs ; arrested two persons and upon interrogation one of the suspect Prince confessed to belonging to Iceland cult group. Mr. Omoni said the suspects are helping the police with investigation while the command has launched a manhunt for fleeing members of the cult groups. The police spokesman explained that a tricycle ,one baretal pistol and six rounds of ammunition were recovered from the suspects.

Police Commence Investigation into the Alleged Rape of a Widow by Police Officer for not Wearing Face Mask

Four police officers who were involved in an alledged case of raping a woman for not wearing face mask along the East West road have been invited by the Rivers State Police command for questioning . A High court sitting in Port Harcourt has given seven days to the prosecuting counsel in the murder case of Port Harcourt serial killer Gracious David-West to file its written addresses. Man Sentence to Death by Hanging for Murdering his Employer in PortHarcourt

A State High court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced one Telema Amaso to death by hanging for the murder of late Helen Bobmauel who was strangled to death in 2013 at her residence in Woji axis of PortHarcourt. Mr. Amaso who was convicted for murder was a house help to Late Mrs. Bobmanuel and her late husband as at the time the crime was committed. Court Sentence three persons to Death by Hanging for Killing a 32year old Lawyer in Rivers

Justice Chiwendu Nwogu of a High court sitting in Port Harcourt has sentenced three persons to death by hanging after they were convicted for the kidnapped and murder of a thirty-two year old young lawyer , Sampson Worlu in 2015. The three convicts, Chiwendu Alozie, Wilfred Jumbo and Gift Amadi were tried for kidnapping, conspiracy to murder and murder. They were arrested in 2016 with the help of investigation conducted by Department of State Security Service after the family of the Late Lawyer Sampson Worlu reported the matter. Justice Chiwendu Nwogu who convicted the three persons said evidence provided by the prosecution team and the confessional statements by the accused are weighty enough and the court relied on them to deliver the judgment. The Nigerian Army 6 Division PortHarcourt now has a new General Officer Commanding ,GOC ;Major General Olu Irefin . The new GOC took over from major General Felix Agugo who has been transferred to Lagos State as Corps Commander Signals. The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the shooting that rain in the early hours of today in Amadi- Ama community PortHarcourt City Local Government Area of the state. Navy Arraign Nine Suspects in Connection with Sea Piracy

Nine suspects have been arraigned at Federal High Court, Port Harcourt, in the case between Federal Republic of Nigeria against Binaebi Johnson and nine others. The suspects who pleaded not guilty were arraigned on seven count charges bordering on piracy, kidnapping, illegal possession of fire arms, terrorism among others. Three women Mercy Promise, Joy Ikechukwu and Ngozi Ogbonna who allegedly belong to a child trafficking syndicate have been arrested by Rivers State Police command . Federal Government said schools will no longer resume as earlier announced. The Government stated that there will be no participation of schools in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination ,WASSCE. Court Remands Dismiss Police Officers Who Alledgedly Torture Chima Ikwunado to Dead

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in PortHarcourt has remanded in correctional center four Ex Police Officers who tortured Chima Ikwunado an auto mechanic to death and inflicted grievous injuries on four others. The suspect Ayogu Fidelis,Eke Chibuzor,Egbunfu Felix and Rose Georgewill were arraigned in court by the police on seven count charges bothering on murder, attempt murder and conspiracy to murder. Our Correspondent report that when the charges was read to the suspects in court they pleaded not guilty. The chief magistrate Promise Iroanya after listening to arguments from the prosecuting and Defence Counsels stated that the crime committed is a capital offence and that the court lacks jurisdiction to trial the suspects and ordered the case file to be transfer to the Department of Public Prosecution ,DPP; for advice, while the suspects be remanded in correctional center and adjourned the matter to the 18th of September 2020. Police Service Commission have dismissed ten senior Officers, reduced eight others rank and approved the promotion of 6,618 senior officers . The commission in a statement through its Head Press and Public Relations Ikechukwu Ani noted that the erring senior officers were sacked as a result of misconduct. The Appeal court sitting in Port Harcourt has adjourned to the 13th of July 2020 on a case of Okirigwe Jason and others against Dele Moses and nine others over the Judgement of a hight court delivered by Justice George Omereji. The Judgement of Justice omereji ordered that Dele Moses and nine others are the only candidates eligible to contest whenever the Rivers APC wishes to conduct their Congress , since they purchase forms during the 2015 Congress.
